Castellamare out of season is quiet. Much of the town seems closed. But the Al Madarig is wonderfully placed overlooking the town square and the little cove below. Fascinating place, its low buildings huddled around the crescent of the harbour. Get a room with a balcony and wake up to the sun. Simple hotel but everything works, the staff are happy, and the breakfast is fine.

Good location and very good price. I stayed hear in Sept 2014 with some friends, almost at the end of the main holiday season so quiet (apart from Saturday). Rooms have air conditions, bathrooms are clean and rooms are comfortable.

The staff are very friendly and most helpful. Breakfast can be busy as it was a popular spot when I stayed.

Location is good near the seafront but not straight on to the harbour so the price was good. Nice three star hotel nothing to grand but for the price very good and popular with tourists.

Room tip: Nice three star hotel. We'll priced nothing fancy, rooms are clean with aircon. Maids are excellent and staff are friendly. Within 2 mins of restaurants and 5 mins of main harbour. If look for the special offer then you can get a deal with transfer from Palermo airport.

We really enjoyed our stay at Al Madarig. this is just what you would expect from a good hotel. all services were excellent. staff was very helpful. breakfast was superb (and very healthy too). the views from the terrace/balcony alone make the visit worthwhile. there is a beach right under the holel, however, we went to the spiaggia plaia two kms away and that was great. Castellamare del Golfo is also a great base if you want to explore, Zingaro, Scopello, Erice and San Vito Lo Capo.

Room tip: any hotel in a sea side town in Sicily will be noisy in July/August. i.e. there is only so much you can do in that situation. however, the rooms had double glazed windows and that makes a big difference.

Very comfortable simple hotel with modern bathrooms.Rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter but don't have views.Excellent breakfast with lots to choose from.About half an hour from Palermo airport .The hotel is close to steps which lead down to the port.Lots of restaurants within walking distance .

Room tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel

This was our first time in Sicily other than a stop made by a cruise ship we were on. We drove from the airport near Palermo and spent our first four days in the lovely hotel. We had a nice view of the sea and of one of many piazzas in this city. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The morning breakfast gave you many choices. We enjoyed being able to park the car right out front of the hotel where it was most of the time because the city is very walkable. The staff of the hotel was most helpful in directing us to good restaurants and getting us to sights outside of the city.
