The Forte Resort exceeded our expectations. It was definitely one of the best resorts we have ever been to, and we have been to some of the most luxurious hotels in the Maldives. There are so many reasons why the Forte Resort stands out as one of the best family resorts out there and we have already tried a few. Apart from the fact that there is endless stuff for kids to do, the Forte Resort gets it right on so many levels. Firstly the staff are excellent and really helpful. Italians are very family friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Secondly the food was incredible. The food was so good in our half board restaurant that we didnt feel the need to try any of the other restaurants at a supplement. Every night we had a bottle of wine included laid out on romantic tables in the restaurant, often unheard of in half board options. The food was really delicious with a wonderful selection of pastas, seafood, antipasto, cheeses, salads, ice creams. At breakfast there was an excellent coffee station like starbucks, baby stuff, champagne and a really good selection of european items. We had a fantastic baby sitter every night for our two children and we also hired her in the day for a couple of ours as our kids were too young to be included in the free creche from 2. Although the babysitter did take them there to use the facilities. The beach was wonderful. Never a problem getting sunbeds. The beach is littered with lilos, toys, buckets and spades, all for kids to use at their leisure. One of our kids got very ill half way through the holiday with an ear infection and it was wonderful that there was an on site private doctors with all the antibiotics and treatments necessary, to put our mind at ease for children's ailments. The shops were fantastic and had many baby products, better than you would get in the UK, and a well stocked pharmacy with alot of interesting kids homeopathic remedies. The open air entertainment was surprisingly good. The singers were better than X factor finals in my opinion! The beach bar was wonderful, very ibiza-esque, and the pizzaria was excellent as food arrived almost immediately after it was ordered, so there was no hanging round with bored kids. You could hire bikes for every age on the resort. I forgot to mention that we were upgraded to Le Palme when we arrived. I think this was just an upgrade in location, as it was right next door to the Kids restaurant, which was incredible and so easy for the kids before bedtime. In my opinion, Le Dune Accommodation looked the nicest, near the beach and with enclosed gardens. Our terrace in Le palme wasnt really big enough and was a bit dark with all the vegetation and our kids couldnt be on it without supervision (they are under 2). There were certainly some worse rooms than ours. The rooms are rustic, not high tech, but the bathrooms are lovely, and the cleaners are incredible. Way too many fresh towels twice a day. My only other criticism is the price of drinks in the room. A bottle of wine on your terrace would set you back 30 euros and you could'nt get anything cheaper. When we return we will certainly be visiting a local supermarket for the local wine which is probably about 5 euros and just as nice. We will definitely be going again, off season whilst we can, as I believe in high season its too busy to enjoy it. That having said, in low season some facilities do close down such as certain restaurants and kids services so do check. Thank you forte resort for one of the best holidays we have ever been on.
