“The ultimate holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

Sadly I’ve just got back from a dream week at Hotel Castello in Santa Margherita di Pula, Sardinia.
The only way to sum it up is “absolutely perfect”. You really feel like you’re being looked after and attended to as if you were the only guest at the hotel, thanks mainly to the guest relation managers. They speak excellent English and strive to meet your every last need.
We also got to know some other guests, which helped make our holiday even more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be going back to the Hotel, and we’d recommend it to anyone who wants to experience a stunning corner of Sardinia where relaxation and excellence reign supreme.

We were on holiday in Sardinia in September 2012 and stayed in the Hotel Castello. It was definitely a fantastic holiday. The hotel is embedded in a beautiful tropical park with flowers everywhere. The Hotel Castello overlooks an exquisite, perfectly kept 4km long beach with white sand. The beach is just a few steps from the main entrance.

There are lots of watersports available: sailing, surfing, scuba-diving and there are lifeguards on duty, also golf, tennis, football Chelsea academy, rugby.

We really enjoyed that the hotel staff is exceptionally attentive, including the hotel manager - the very professional yet always approachable Director Marcello Spiga. We found that the entire staff was at all times genuinely helpful and keen to make our stay at the Hotel Castello a memorable experience.

The Spa at the Forte Village Resort, called the “Thaermae del Forte” also needs to be mentioned – We really liked being pampered and it is a beautiful and very relaxing spa.

Another highlight is the food! - As a hotel guest in the Castello, we were in a position to choose where to eat: either in the restaurant of the Hotel Castello, “Cavalieri Terrace” or in any of the other restaurants of the Forte Village (there are a total of about 20 restaurants to choose from). The “Cavalieri” was certainly your favourite though – it offers an exquisite buffet for breakfast and dinner - thank you Maitre Giuseppe, His Assistant Alessandro and all your team for your always excellent service!

We have stayed in a number of five star resorts over the years, and we have to admit that not all of them have always made us happy. The Castello definitely has though! It made for a very memorable and beautiful vacation in a magical place. The entire hotel made sure we were perfectly taken care of and provided real personal hospitality. - Contenance and understatement are the credo of the house - friendly and obliging.

We suggest to also visit the very important and most interesting archeological sites Barumini and Tharros.

We will be back next year!

Grazie a tutti i nostri nuovi amici della Sardegna!!!!!

Irene from Vienna, Austria

we had a family reunion at the Forte Village -
september is a quiet time to visit which meant that we had plenty of space on the beach and at the pools
the food was superb as always
as a repeat customer they always look after you very well
we first went in 1991 when our kids were small and we have seen the resort grow over the years but many of the staff are there every year and make you feel very welcome
this time we stayed at the Costello and really enjoyed the convenience of being so close to the beach and restaurant

My review is a bit different from all the other do to the fact that I actually with my parents went to Forte Village since I have gone there since 1986 till 2000 that is 14 years in a row that both myself and my family have gone to the hotel Castello for a month each year. Then I move to the USA for work and I was not able to come back so often. Got married to an italian woman seven years ago and I decided this summer that she had to see where I spent most of my childhood, so I decide to come back.
Well I can certainly say that the Hotel Castello still keeps is name for excellence from the quality of food served in the morning and in the evening, from the hospitality to the cleaness of the rooms. I also wanted to add that yes the actual beach is shorter from 20 years ago but the water and the service that we received from beach boys and their staff was outstanding, we felt protected and at home. The magnitude of variety of sports that you can in a day is unique and then you can go to one if not the most incredible spa that I have encountered in many trips we have maid over the years, and then to top it all off you have great show at night.

I would dedefinately raccomend to anyone for once to experience this great resort you will like it so much that you will come back like we did.

Family Holidays in Forte Village Resort – no one does it better!

It is true. Where else you can have a quit lunch or dinner by seaside and your children will be happily dancing or playing football with Chelsea Football Club players, or having courses in professional sport tennis or golf academies?

Can you imagine? It is possible to agree that nanny of your child will cook porridge on the kitchen. The word “no” does not exist for guests here…Everything is possible.

…Touchable service from personal who does not put sunglasses on the eyes…
…Smiles like you are guest of big family
…Energy of Sardinia island and botanic garden on 25 hectares of Forte Village…
…own garden with every day fresh vegetables and herbs on your table…
…200 kg of fresh ice cream cooked every day...
…Green cover from pine trees…
…Air full of fitonzids recover even after several breathes…
…Fresh sea food, mozzarella, prosciutto, botarga, pizza, pasta, fish, grille, wines…
…Thalasso del Forte Spa with 6 swimming pools with aloe vera, magnesium, concentrated sol, etc – one treatment and your power come back to each muscle and soul!
…Be seeing or be in privacy – choice is yours…

Mama mia, I want again to come back to Forte Village!

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Hotel Castello. Having booked several months in advance and read some of the rave reviews we were looking forward to experiencing 7 days of pure luxury. Sadly, the Hotel Castello fell a long way short of out expectations. Our hotel room was very small, dark and in desparate need of redecorating. The balcony was small and had a window box full of dead flowers. Not what you would expect of a 5 star hotel and in fact we've stayed in much better 4 star rooms in the past. We were woken at 7am each morning by the sound of the noisy golf buggys and trailers driving around the resort. The resort itself looked in much need of an overhaul. The gardens looked overgrown and untidy. The staff were on the whole fairly helpful but we had to report the faulty safe in our room 3 times before it was fixed. We ate mainly at the buffet restaurant at the Castello. The food was very good but the service let the whole experience down. We waited so long to be shown to a table that in the end we seated ourselves. We then waited a further lengthy period to be given the wine list! Again, not what we expect from a 5 star resort. The beach was the hotel's redeeming feature with white sands and crystal blue sea. We would have liked to have enjoyed more of the facilities in the resort but the extortionate prices put us off. We were staggered to learn that a visit to the gym costs 25 euros per person and if you want to play tennis for 45 minutes that will be another 50 euros for the hire of the court and use of two rackets. You really do feel robbed I'm afaraid. We've stayed at many 5 star resorts all over Europe, Asia, and the USA. Forte Village really didn't come anywhere close to the 5 star standard you should expect for the prices they charge. A dissappointing experience and definitely not 5 star.
