We have just come back from a week at rocco sarde , we was a party of 7 couples, we had a great week the staff at the hotel were excellent and very friendly, the bar men Luca and salvo were great and both drivers of the minibus to the beach , The restaurant staff very friendly and helpful, and reception all very helpful , rooms cleaned well and lovely setting , food was very good, beach wonderful, if you want a break away from it all this is it, otherwise a car would be a great bonus or if the hotel minibuses were available In the evening as well as Daytime this would be very helpful, overall a great hotel with great staff.

Got back a week ago from a fabulous holiday in Sardinia with 14 friends (couples). Had a lovely stay at the Rocce Sarde. Food was great especially the anti pasto/appetisers such a selection. Views from room of mountains and sea beautiful. Make sure you get a view with terrace though as makes a big difference. Beautiful views from hotel and pool. Staff at hotel were extremely helpful and couldn’t do enough. A big thank you to the receptionists for all your helpful advice and thankyou to the minibus drivers that took us to the beach most days. The beach was wonderful blue sea and white sand. A very special thankyou to luca and salvo at the bar especially from our men. You were so efficient and friendly and made us feel very welcome. If you are staying at the Rocce Sarde definitely recommend a car as bit out in sticks and taxis very expensive.

Room Tip: Recommend terrace with a view

I cant believe how relaxed I felt in this hotel in Sardinia. It is on a hillside overlooking the Costa Smerelda coast. Our room was beautiful with a large patio overlooking hills on three sides and sea in front of us. The food was mouthwatering and plentiful with plenty fresh fruit everyday and a buffet to die for. When we first arrived we thought the buffet was it but then they came with a menu for another three courses. The staff were very friendly and couldnt do enough to help. There was a mini bus to take you to the beach every day and picked you up again. The beach was white and clean with plenty men selling their wares so you had your own personal market. I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel and i would like to thank all the staff for one of the best holidays we have been on.

Room Tip: Ask for room 203 204 or 205

A week's half term stay with three teenage children in late May. On the cool side but that's not RS's responsibility.

The rooms are simple, clean and delightfully idiosyncratic, en suite facilities are simple yet effective. No Marriott or Hilton marble here. Corridors a little dark.

The restaurant is delightfully unpretentious with locals as well as residents. Good local menu with delicious salty local poppdum style breads. Aperitifs on the lawn before dinner, roaring fire in the grate.

Staff were very attentive and nothing was too much bother.

Delightful boat trips from the local harbour to nearby islands are inclusive and well worth a day out.

Smallish and unheated pool was bracing (but as we're British the water felt warm) with great poolside bar for lunch. Not quite enough sun loungers to go around.

Little in the way of C21st children's activities but the rocks and trees surrounding the pool more than sufficed to keep them occupied.

A great place for an intimate family holiday, but you need a hire car and to bring your walking boots.

If you're not bothered about expensive facilities that you never use anyway such as gyms, spas, salons etc, then this rustic but chic, basic but comfortable, simple but special hotel is for you. They've managed to get everything just right without being pretentious. Food great - waiter/waitress service at dinner - buffet service at breakfast. Take the shuttle bus to the nearest beach or take the steep descent (not for the elderly or infirm) to the pool area. Experience the Sardinian evening (7 euros) but well worth it for the food, wine & entertainment. If you want to see a bit more of the island then a car is essential. There are no money-changing facilities in the hotel - probably due to 90% of the guests being German/Dutch/Italian, so make sure you take enough euros to settle your end-of-stay bill. Would we go again? In a flash!

Room Tip: I think all the lower rooms are slightly noisy but this is due to the heavy solid wood furniture in...

Have just returned from a week at the hotel rocce sarde.4 friends celebrating a half a century each. The hotel is situated a couple of miles out of the small village San Pantaleo. We had a car as part of our deal so no experience of hotel bus but know that there was one to local towns and beaches .The hotel staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was excellent and as we were half boadr we chose the menu for the night each morning at breakfast. There was a varied comprehensive menu and the only problem was narrowing it down. The views are spectacular. The pool had lots of sunbeds and the grounds were clean tidy and well maintained.I would love to return and cant recommend the hotel highly eneogh.

Just spent a quiet week at this wonderful hotel which sits alone on the hillside almost two miles from San Pantaleo. If rest and relaxation is what you are looking for, then this hotel fits the bill. The location is beautiful and grounds well tended, with tennis courts and a splendid pool and pool bar below the hotel. But be warned, because of its location, it wouldn't be great for those with mobility problems. We had half board and I can't imagine that anyone could be unsatisfied with the menu. There was plenty of choice even for vegetarians and you can't often say that abroad. The drinks were reasonably priced too, wines being only a couple of Euros more than in the supermarkets. The staff were friendly, but as the majority if guests were German, they do initially assume you are too, but were then happy to speak in English or answer in their native language when I wanted to practise my rather rusty Italian.
The shuttle bus runs frequently to the lovely beach, which has a cafe bar with toilets, but that's all. The bus only holds eight, so if the hotel is busy, you might have to wait for transport.
San Pantaleo is a reasonably easy walk by road, there being a small sort of pavement by the roadside. You can also get there by a track, although it's rough walking but pretty. There are other walks in the area, but they are not well marked and it's easy to get lost (my husband ended up rock climbing when he went solo and lost his way).
San Pantaleo has a few nice cafes and restaurants. The Thursday market is worth a visit.
There are trips you can do from the hotel, but they're very expensive and it would probably be cheaper to hire a car for a week from the UK and do some exploring on your own. If you get easily bored, you'll definitely need a car.
