Very much as others have described. An excellent hotel in a good location. You need to be aware that the hotel also hosts weddings and other hospitality events. We arrived on the Saturday evening and the hotel was overrun with wedding guests. The same on Sunday plus a VW Toureg corporate hospitality event. The outcome of both was that the bar was overrun and dinner was 30 minutes late starting on the Sunday evening. Don't let this put you off - but if your visit does includes a weekend you may wish to enquire what other events are scheduled during your visit.

My partner booked this for my Birthday, it was truely wonderful, we just didnt want to leave. The hotel is beautiful with differnet themed rooms, a mini spa, and a lovely area to sunbath. The food in the evening was amazing, the service thoughout the hotel was excellent, we just couldnt fault it.
Great area for walking, cycling, and relaxing.

  • Liked — the scenery, location, the themed rooms, and the food!
  • Disliked — mini-golf area was run down

You just can't fault this hotel. Breathtaking location, wonderful food at surpisingly good prices and every room with a different interior. It blows away the drab uniformity of the beige aestthetic and plays with colours in the brilliant sunshine - whether it's the planting, the crockery or the cushions - the colour just warms the spirit and lifts the experience beyond reality. But even though each vista is staged, rather like Portmerion, there is nothing uncomfortable about the experience. The hotel excels all round ay producing a warm and generous welcome. The excursions by jeep to the bronze age settlements will satisfy the most curious amateur historian and, for those more in favour of challenging walking, the hotel is at the base of the dramatic Supramonte so there's something for everyone. Even some of the islands best east coast beaches are only 30 minutes away. If it's relaxation you want there is a beautiful pool and many a secluded corner furnished for a relaxing read.

  • Liked — The architecture of the hotel
  • Disliked — The very hard beds

We have just returned from a fly-drive holiday in Sardinia and without doubt Su Gologone was the highlight. It is such an unusual hotel with so many nooks and crannies and we really wished we could have stayed for more than two nights. It did rain when we were there so we were unable to enjoy the garden to the full. But the bedrooms are wonderful and the food quite outstanding. Cannot find a single thing wrong with the place.

We stayed several nights on our honeymoon and this was the perfect romantic hideaway! We let them know we were on our honeymoon and they promised (and delivered) one of their most romantic rooms. Our balcony was very private; no one could see into our room, yet we had a wonderful veiw of the entire valley. Breakfast is everything you could expect, wonderful fruit, coffee, yogurt, pastries, etc...and eating in the sun on their beautiful patio was the perfect start to the day. The building is definitely old school, if your looking to stay at a modern hotel with new furniture and updated features this probably isn't the place for you. But we found much of the charm in it's winding hallways and oldworld style.
The staff was exceedingly friendly during our stay. We stopped by the gift shop on our last day to buy a bottle of wine and a small ceramic scupture, and they threw in another bottle as well as several other wonderful gifts.
There's not a lot of exciting activities around Oliena, but if you want a relaxing place to spend time with your sweetie while touring the small towns and countryside Su Gologone is wonderful!
