“Brilliant Location and Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

We stayed here for 3 nights in July and upgraded our stay to a deluxe room and balcony. The hotel is situated at the base of the Spramonte mountains and national park and has fantastic views of the mountains. The hotel is filled with beatiful ceramics and traditional sardinia clothes and it has a very rustic feel. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are spread all over the hillside with either a mountain or garden view. They have a pool and several art shops that sells local produce and ceramics. Although there are plenty of rooms you never feel as if the hotel is busy and the pool sun beds are never fun. Breakfast and Dinner are outside on the terrace overlooking the pool and are amazing! there are so many tasty things on the buffet you do not know where to start! We went half board and you have the full range of the menu which is extensive! We never managed more than 3 courses but that was plenty as the buffet was filled with lots of treats. The wine is very good and inexpensive at around 12 - 15 euros for a good bottle. When choosing the main course, they roast lamb, pork, chicken and beef.....if you go for the beef, do order it but share it between two as honestly, it is enormous.....I was hungry but could only eat half of it and the waitress was very disappointed! The place is well worth a visit and if you like walking, quiet and good food...go for it

Room Tip: I'd ask for mountain view room with balcony

Very nice, godd swimming pool, lovely food in the restaurant. No other places near so I would not stray more than a week. Friendly staff. One downside, we arrived during a wedding and were rather dumped in the room. Some rooms have a much better view than others so make sure you ask for a view of the mountains, which are lovely

Room Tip: View of the mountains. If you don't like steps then be careful to be near reception as the hotel...

My partner and I spent a week at this hotel in May. From the first night ( due to a 4 hour wait to pick up our car) we were looked after superbly. We arrived at 3 a.m. and we're provided with the best in room cold buffet I have ever had with local cheeses, meats, fruits & salad. The hotel itself is amazing. Yes it's quirky - but fabulous. There are lots of quiet corners to find yourself some peace and tranquility. The staff are lovely and the food wonderful. If you are looking for 4 star all mod cons and entertainment please don't go to this hotel. If you want to get away from it all then this must be one of the best places to go.
The surrounding scenery is breathtaking and there are lots of things to see and do such as visiting the nearby archaeological sites, the graffiti of Orgosolo, the spring of su gologone itself and much more. Of all the places we have been this is one of the few hotels we would return too (the other being Lindeth Howe in the British Lake District)- we are already planning a trip back next year for one of those zero birthdays.

we have just spend 3 nights at the hotel on a 2 week fly drive in Sardinia from 19th to 21st June 2013
We could not fault the hotel.the rooms, gardens restaurant lobby etc were a feast for the senses beautiful artistic and in stunning surroundings. The view from the dining terrace I will never forget.
The service was exemplary all staff friendly helpful and courteous.
Now the food! outstanding.every evening wonderful antipasta pasta courses and meats cooked on a spit.a real taste of Sardinia. If you want to experience Sardinian hospitality at its best go !!
We shall certainly return a beautiful relaxing hotel with a superb restaurant and excellent service from all staff.

I would have given five stars, but the room was just that bit dark and occasionally noisy This is less an international slick hotel than a real slice of Sardinian hospitality. The food at dinner was excellent, really excellent with lots of Sardinian dishes and friendly local ladies serving. Days were spent by the pool with lunch in the attached gazebo. One could also eat lunch in the restaurant, but I think that the lunch menu in the gazebo could be widened a bit. One highlight is the public art that is on display it makes Su Gologone quite an uplifting place to be.

Room Tip: Check that you get a good view, ours was of the back of the rooms in front of and a service corridor

Loved everything - the mountain setting, the cactus garden, all of the unexpected nooks and crannies, the food, the happy hour terrace overlooking a valley. It was a perfect place to relax and get some peace and quiet. We were upgraded to a really nice room with a terrace. I have no complaints. It's worth a day trip to see even if you decide not to stay there. The hotel also has lovely Sardinian art everywhere. I was thoroughly impressed!!

We stayed for three nights following on from a stay in a 5* hotel in northern Sardinia. There was a warm welcome and help with baggage from the car; this hotel is not suited to anyone with mobility problems! Our room was off the central courtyard, comfortably furnished with a terrace but rather dark. Food service was excellent with wide choices available. Beware of the portion size which is best described as "generous". The suckling pig, spit-roasted in front of a wood fire, was memorable. A lovely hotel for a relaxing stay.
