“Would definately visit here again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2011

Vecchio Mulino is a charming hotel of very high standard - 3 friends in the one room not a problem space wise.
The rooms are airy and clean and have Air Con/TV/Small fridge/hair dryer etc.
It is a fact that there are no screens on the windows but with the air con on low and the standard plug in insect repellant supplied we had no problems at all with unwanted visitors.
This hotel its true is just a little off the beaten track, but there is a bus that runs past the end of the road to and from Tortoli (Where the major facilities are). There is a supermarket within a 3 minute walk plus a Pizzeria. A 15 minute walk in the opposite direction takes you down to the beach and 4 restaurants of a very acceptable standard.
Breakfasts were plentiful and varied and the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Madge, Edna & Beryl.

Room Tip: Room 208 (double) on the 2nd floor opens out on to a lovely patio area.

it was our second stay, the previous in summer of 2010, and again we appreciated the friendliness, cleanness and high standards of the premises. As a family of 4, this time we had a smaller room than the previous time but that was not a real problem. Breakfast is gorgeous and the home-made cakes superb. It's a pity there isn't a pool, it would just be perfect then. A must if you want to explore Arbatax and the Ogliastra beaches

Room Tip: ask for a family room if 4 in a party

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2010

After travelling around Sardinia where we stayed in sub standard acomodation the Mulino Vecchio was a wonderful relief. The hotel is clean, spacious and deserving of a higher star rating (we've stayed in five stars that are not as comfortable). The beds were extremely comfortable and the family room exceeded our expectations-spacious, air conditioning, lovely balcony, all mod cons in immaculate bathroom with a daily maid service). The breakfasts were delicious, a huge choice of beautiful home made cakes, pastries, croissants, rolls, ham, cheese, cereal, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, fruit juices etc. All presented to the highest standards of cleanliness and service. The staff spoke good english and were helpful regarding the best local beaches etc. Despite this, we would not holiday in Sardinia again and cannot recommend the island per se for families with children as the restaurants did not open until 19.00 hrs and even then the food was limited, very expensive and sometimes dreadful. Fresh fish does not appear to be available anywhere and it was almost impossible to find good places to eat for lunch (we shopped at the local supermarkets for picnic food). Also. the Sardinian drivers are disrespectful at best and dangerous at worst so take care.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2010

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and found the owners to be very good. However, the hotel itself is in the middle of a residential area and you must have a car to get anywhere. The breakfast has an excellent variety of sardinian cakes etc. The room we stayed in was small and on the ground floor. Because tall he flooring is plastic wood, we could hear people upstairs walking around all the time and like a lot of italian hotels, there were some plumbing problems that resulted in damp walls. Be sure to bring good insect repellant too because they have no insect screens so you have to sleep with the air conditioner on.
