Certainly a mixed bag! The hotel is in a prime spot and the rates fairly pricey for the facilities. I believe we paid €130 for a harbour view (€110 without view), whereas most accommodation on our trip was in the €70 - €90 region.
The signorina on the desk was super friendly and helpful, suggesting a magnificent ristorante nearby (Osteria Ai Platani). Our room was large, tastefully furnished, with a fabulous view over the harbour.
Breakfast was superb, the best range of foods we came across in our three week trip.
As mentioned in other reviews though, the furniture and fittings are not built to last. Our shower fittings were broken, the plugs in the bidet and the basin were broken. A leg fell off our bed when I lay down. The staff were most apologetic and offered us another room: it was much smaller so we stayed where we were with the bed propped up. When we checked out the next day the signorina was again most apologetic, and deducted €20 from our bill.
However, the harbour at Trani is a magical spot, and together with the air of luxe at the hotel - superficial though it may be - there was a delightful air of carefree abandonment to our stay.
