“The room was cold and wouldn't warm up”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

The room was cold and wouldn't warm up. The cable tv wasnt working properly and only half the channels were available, no news, no weather. The checkout time wasnt shown anywhere in the room. The room was only $99 and I felt like I got what I pain for.

Room Tip: The higher the better.

Dear David S:
I was disappointed to learn that your recent stay wasn't perfect. I can understand your concerns with the thermostat in your room along with the problems with the TV. I am sure this was very frustrating. Your experience was below Marriott standards and I hope you will accept my apologies. Please feel free to contact me so I can address your concerns. Thank you for taking the time to let me know about your experience.
Sincerely,

Generally speaking Marriott's are predictable and mostly good but never outstanding. The Marriott Cambridge is in the center of one of the most exciting and vibrant towns in terms of the intellectual and creative best in many fields so it is suprising that this hotel is stuck firmly in the 80's. The lobby has been nicely updatted but the rooms are dim and have the lowest ceilings I've ever experienced in a hotel at this price-point. The service was good except for a very rude person who checked me in. Everyone except for this one perrson was delightful so it was disappointing as I've never had anything but consistently great service at Marriott Hotels. I'm surprised that a hotel in this decade (or the last for that matter) still does the $5 water bottle charge or charges for WiFi? Particularly in a super-tech focused area like Cambridge? Crazy. In summary, not a bad hotel experience but given the competitiion and other choices in the area, I'd look elsewhere before booking this hotel again.

Dear Geoff L:
You are right that the Cambridge Marriott is located in a dynamic and vibrant location - Kendall Square. I am glad that you liked the updated lobby that we completed earlier this year. Plans are currently underway for the update to all of our guestrooms in late 2015. This renovation will feature Marriott's latest designs and reflect the creativity and energy of the local area. I am also pleased to let you know that WiFi will be free to all Marriott Rewards guests who book through Marriott channels beginning in mid January. Hope to see you back next year!
Sincerely,

They are attentive and quick to please at this hotel. The food options are very nice and they just added a nice little breakfast/coffee nook just off the lobby. Parking.. Not cheap, but we are talking about an expensive area.

This is a nice Marriott. I had a room on the 17th floor with a beautiful city view. The large windows did however make it more difficult to warm up the room. Concierge lounge was nice with good food and lots of snacks. Bed was comfortable and room was a good size. My only complaint would be the lobby area. Strong winds whipped in whenever the sliding glass front doors opened, which made it too uncomfortable for me to sit in the area. There is a city shuttle stop outside the hotel that you can take to Galleria mall for free. Overall, good choice. I would stay again if in the area.

I stayed at this hotel with my son for a swim meet held at MIT (within walking distance). Everything at the hotel was above expectations, from the quality of the accommodations to the helpfulness and professionalism of the staff. The staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Perfectly situated next to public transportation (Kendall station on the Red Line) and within walking distance to many attractions (for example, we walked to TD Garden for a hockey game in the afternoon).

Located centrally, quick to check in. Great location near MIT and Harvard. Solid rooms and service. Gym and pool were in good condition and the location was perfect for public transportation as well. Would definitely stay there again.

This was just a quick overnight in Cambridge, but this Marriott really got the details right. I was allowed to check in right away (in the late morning), I got a room with a view, the staff was friendly and competent, and they gave me some good advice for places to eat within walking distance.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because, like many Marriotts, they only put in 3 sets of towels, and didn't have a complete set of linens for the sofabed. Otherwise, a nice place to rest after a very busy day.
