“An oasis”

My husband and I stayed at the Mary Prentiss Inn for the week leading up to, and the night of, our wedding when we left our apartment to our out-of-town family members. The staff was so thoughtful and the place so beautiful, it almost felt unreal. Relaxing in a jacuzzi in front of a roaring fire, high tea on the deck, breakfast on the sun porch - all part of the daily routine.

We've begun a tradition of spending our anniversary at the Mary Prentiss Inn. It's an oasis in Cambridge, and in life!

Room Tip: Rooms on the back deck are utterly memorable: relax in the jacuzzi while watching the roaring fire...

I just returned from my third stay at the Mary Prentiss Inn this year. The first time was for a long weekend visit to see the Red Sox. The second time was business, and the third time was to visit with friends.

The Mary Prentiss Inn is a delightful place to stay and an exceptional value.

Each room is unique and wonderfully decorated with period furnishings, with fully updated bathrooms and contemporary comforts, like wi-fi, cable TV, and thoughtful extras like lovely bath products, umbrellas, candies/snacks, daily newspapers, etc.

Each time I've stayed in a different room, and all have been impeccably clean and fresh. The housekeeping staff does an exceptional job.

They've even been known to surprise guests with a free and unexpected room upgrade, when an availability existed! The proprietors demonstrate, on every level, their commitment to providing their guests with a charming, comfortable, safe home base from which to easily attend to your event, or business, or to explore all that Boston and Cambridge have to offer.

The Inn is located on a side street, which affords quiet and privacy, yet also very close and a short, easy walk to the subway, buses, shops, restaurants. And during one very rainy weekend, when I didn't feel like walking at all, I found it very easy to hail taxis just around the corner from the Inn.

Afternoon tea is a special treat! Mouthwatering pastries, fruits, coffees and, for us tea lovers, so often relegated to just a few options, they provide a great variety of teas. Settle in the quaint dining room, where you are apt to find other guests from all over the world; or choose a table outside on the peacefully enclosed and beautifully landscaped courtyard; in your room; or use the thoughtfully-provided to-go cups and take your refreshments with you.

It's such a charming inn, with a very warm and inviting ambience; I can't imagine staying anywhere else, now.

Room Tip: Each room is different and the website has excellent descriptions and photos of each one. I've s...

My daughter and I were recently in need of accommodations in Cambridge for an extended period of time (2+ weeks) and chose the Mary Prentiss Inn for its excellent location and value. We could not have been more pleased with our choice! The inn is beautifully decorated in period detail with each and every room having its own "personality" (we know because we settled into a few different ones). The outdoor courtyard is lush with flowering plants, making for an inviting spot for breakfast, afternoon tea or a pleasant area to read or work. Which brings me to my next point....breakfast!! Absolutely amazing as were the staff members who were ever present and available to help in any way. Thank you Lisa, Amy, Natalie and Vinnie for providing us with the perfect home away from home. We look forward to making a return visit.

The Mary Prentiss Inn is a comfy, safe, and convenient location in Cambridge/Boston. The Inn is walking distance from the train, several excellent restraunts, and convenient to a wine/beer store just around the corner. The rooms in the Inn are wonderfully furnished and beds are heavenly comfortable. We were able to park our vehicle in underground parking (it was tight, but it was FREE). The coffee and breakfast got our day off to a nice start. Try the vanilla cream flavor coffee. Enjoy your coffee or wine whilst sitting in the beautifully manicured garden behind the Inn. I highly recommend a stay at Mary Prentiss Inn in Cambridge.

Room Tip: If you have lots of bags and struggle with stairs, ask for a 1st level room.

Booked the MPI because everything else in Boston was so expensive. It had good reviews and was exactly as others had described. On arrival our room was a top floor room which was basic and a little small even for UK stadards but we knew this as it was the cheapest option. We decided to upgarde to a garden room for a few dollers more and was very happy with it.
Breakfast was very American (I understand we were in America) but fruit WITH your hot
bacon or potatoes gets some getting use to, a little more choice would have been nice with more bacon eggs etc.
The afternoon coffee and tea was a nice touch with the home made cookies.
Easy to find and get to between Porter and Harvard metro stations on the Redline takes about 15 mins to get downtown.

We will definitely be returning to The Mary Prentiss Inn. Great location, friendly staff, hearty breakfast and good coffee. The garden courtyard is lovely. Plan on booking a room overlookimg the garden next time. Really enjoyed the concert at the Inn and walked to the music festival on Sunday. So much to see and do in tthe area.

Room Tip: Garden rooms are superb.
