I find it difficult to describe the Paradise without use of profanity, but here goes:
1.) The facility is dirty and disgusting. I felt similarly about the staff and clientele, but that is a matter of opinion. That the place is filthy and smells like urine is a matter of fact.
2.) The staff is rude and there is a ridiculous item checking policy that includes any with a" zipper." So forget your track jackets or zip down sweaters.
3.) The upstairs has very young, generally unattractive strippers doing lap dances for old men. It is a frightful and very uncomfortable spectacle. The only part of the Paradise more frightening is the restrooms, which make the rest of this pit seem immaculate and wholesome by comparison.
4.) On the flipside, drinks were cheap. But I suspect this is becuase the staff realizes that anyone not approaching a dangerous level of inebriation would run screaming from this misbegotten rathole the moment they enter it, had they not been forced to pay a cover fee (which adds insult to the injury).
In conclusion, I would advise travelers or residents to avoid this locale at all costs. There are certainly more enjoyable gay bars in Boston. There are more enjoyable dumpsters in fact. In a word: avoid.
