“Excellent food, still needs full liquor license”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Had a great meal here at the end of September. Place has a great decor and a huge bar but they still lack a full liquor license which I actually didnt realize until I inspected the bar more closely. The beer and wine selection was good and waitress was great with wine suggestions.

Food was great, we split a salad and had the scallops and chicken entrees and they were both fantastic.

Overall a great time - and i hear they are trying to petition the city for a full license.

“So good, so good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013 via mobile

This is a casual restaurant with table, bench and bar seating - including a chef's bar. It is farm-to-table -- hence local (northeast) products and beers. The wines may be local as well. The waitstaff is friendly and well-informed of the menu and specials. The dishes were all quite good. Our favorites were the beet salad, the hanger steak, and the lemon curd dessert.

There is no insulation in the ceiling so it gets pretty noisy, but the atmosphere is convivial.

“Great Farm to Table Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

Well prepared farm to table food. With a casual atmosphere. Environment is lively and a bit noisy, but manageable for a table of 4 or smaller.

“Farm to Table-verified by a CSA Lifer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

I love beets. A lot. I love to eat. A lot. No surprise I'm a national beet salad expert. The Puritan's beet salad from 9/16/13 was stellar. One for the books. One I can still taste. Also tasted the mushroom appetizer - magic. Main dish scallops- 4huge- with spicy greens. Risotto melted on the tongue. Favors that lasted forever. Server exceptionally helpful with our wine choices. Would dream to eat my way through every Monday market menu. You should, too.

“Fabulous meal and service at Puritan and Company”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

A very welcoming and homey atmosphere greets you upon entering Puritan and Company at 1166 Cambridge Street. It is where yesterday and today combine for a getaway from it all dinner. The staff is very accommodating and knowledgeable about every item on the menu. Each dish is freshly prepared, beautifully presented, and bursting with wonderful flavors for a true culinary treat.

We began with the house rolls, a potato flour parker house-type roll, served hot from the oven. They were so moist and delicious that we jumped at the chance to have seconds. We followed with the house special lobster bisque that contained succulent chunks of tender lobster and tiny basil leaves that burst with flavor. From the vegetable menu, we had the yummy roasted summer squashes with barrata mozzarella, sunflower seeds, and basil. We selected seared day boat scallops as our entrée. The scallops were huge, succulent, and tender, served over a flavorful corn, mushroom, and pepper mixture. The ethiopia yiragacheffe coffee was freshly ground and delicious.

Finally, for the piece de resistance, we shared three fabulous desserts. The milk chocolate pots de crème was served in a coffee cup containing salted caramel type pudding at he bottom with a chocolate cream top, garnished with a crunchy honey tuille, candied hazel nuts, and an edible pansy flower that bursts with flavor as you enjoy it. The local corn éclair is filled with a vanilla corn custard, garnished with dulce de leche and corn paper, and served with blueberries and sweet corn ice cream over semi caramelized popcorn. The lemon curd is served with a light meringue crème sorbet that is so light and fresh with fabulous bursts of lemony flavor that tastes better than any lemon meringue pie.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere and will definitely be back to Puritan and Company. It’s the perfect place for friend and family gatherings as well as celebrations and dates.
