Description: The Red House specializes in locally-sourced, European & Mediterranean inspired cuisine. Our seasonally changing menus features a variety seafood, poultry, and pasta dishes, many of which are prepared with greens and vegetables from our organic farm in Winchendon, MA. In crafting the restaurant's menu, owner Paul Overgaag and executive chef Marc Plourde have chosen to bring fresh organic foods and locally produced ingredients to center stage. In addition to our main dining room and bar-area, the Red House also contains three intimate private dining rooms which can comfortably seat between 8 and 14 guests. Perfect for your next family or business gathering, each of our three private rooms features authentic period detail, with fireplaces and original wide pine floorboards and woodwork. Additionally, we are able to provide customized-set menus for private diners and events as needed.

“Outstanding Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

As a party of six we recently picked the Red House from the many possible Harvard Square eateries. We were not disappointed. Our party had a variety of dishes and when we finished, there was no take away. We had two risotto dishes, lobster and smoked salmon, both were an excellent preparation with the right balance of ingredients and flavor. Other had halibut, cod and duck. The plates were generous, the preparation well done, and all very fresh. The meal started with warm fresh “cheesy’ bread that went as fast as the meal did. Our service was pleasant and attentive to our needs. Overall this was a great random choice, we were very pleased at the meal’s end.

“Wonderful dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

A near perfect meal in a small out of the way Cambridge restaurant. After a hectic day we wanted a quiet and relaxing dinner. We found it in the Red House. The entrance is off the main street in a sort of alley and we skipped the outdoor seating for the indoor. The ambiance indoor is delightful, bright with a large overhead skylight. The food is very well prepared. Try the mussels and anything lobster!!

“Surprising place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012 via mobile

From outside it seems just another junk food restaurant, but once you get inside its a marvelous surprise: nice tables on the back, really good service and wonderful lobster dishes. Go for the lobster risotto (a little spicy...). We will certainly come back!

“Loved this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

Close to Harvard - great service and great food. The lobster risotto was fabulous and after 3:00 p.m. they have 2 oysters for $1.00 (which I actually had for dessert since we arrived earlier for lunch). My daughter ordered figs w/ goat cheese as an appetizer and they were also excellent. Everything we ordered was delicious - would go back in a heartbeat.

“A good place to meet with friends”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

Five of us had dinner here. We hadn't seen each other for a long time and wanted a good meal and the ability to talk in a conversational tone. Both of our wants were granted. The meals were all good and service was fine. We had a round table so talking was easier. There is a bar that seemed populat. Also a small patio. Parking, as in all of Cambridge, is tough to find.
