“I don't get it”

Hampton Inn Boston / Cambridge

Apr 29, 2008

The was the #1 rated spot in Cambridge last summer when we booked it. Yes, its close to the subway, but it is across a busy street with no light and no real businesses or foot traffic. The area felt a little sketchy but the hotel was a nice average Hampton Inn. Rooms were average. Only negative: we had a major iron burn on our carpet and the area was near some major indutrial looking plants.

“OK, not as good as everyone says.”

Hampton Inn Boston / Cambridge

Apr 1, 2008

I read the reviews and thought this may be a great property. when I arrived I thought I was at the wrong hotel. It is not in a good section of town and it is on a very busy highway which makes for a very long night. I am a Hilton honors member and they have my prefrences (high floor/non-smoking/away from the elevators/king bed) I stayed on the 3rd floor/smoking room/queen size bed/ next to the elevator) 4 for 4!!! I asked for another room and was told there is nothing available. They do have on site parking under the hotel, a bonus for the neighborhood!! The only problem with this was you have to use your room key to open the garage door. More than once I slid my card in and a person on a bicycle rode by, into the garage and the door closes quickly behind. Very annoying. Overall, not very good and fairly expensive. many other hotels in the area.

Stayed here for 3 nights in February 08. The Hotel is spotless the staff cheerful and very helpful (especially Raphael). The Rooms are excellent and spacious, the beds extremely comfortable. The Breakfast is also excellent with a very wide choice. The area is ok the subway is just opposite and good for downtown (4 stops). Parking is underneath the Hotel and free, access is via your Room Card.

“Comfortable Cambridge Accomodation”

I stayed in this hotel for four nights earlier this month. Overall very satisfied. Check-in was very quick, and was greeted by Karen who was very helpful and even recommended a wonderful place for dinner. My room (#410) was spotless and had just about everything one would need-lap desk, comfortable beds, safe, bathroom amenities, coffee maker (pod style brewers).

Parking is free at this hotel (~$40 at downtown hotels) and is in a small underground garage. Previous posts indicate their being a scarcity of spaces, however I never had a problem parking the rental car. Do keep in mind that the garage is of a weird configuration, however your car will fit and be safe. Some members expressed that they had trouble with SUVs however I saw plenty of Ford Expeditions and Toyota Highlanders in the garage.

The room overlooked the entrance to the parking garage, however the alternative was overlooking O'Brien highway which is a very busy road. Make sure to request a rear facing room as the Lechmere T station is directly across the street and is the terminus for the green line and you will hear the train during the night if you have O'Brien. I didn't have any noise problems, however some folks at breakfast commented about to us about the noise.

Breakfast was wonderful and offered a wide variety of hot items, cereals, pastries, coffee, fruit juices, bagels, and more. The breakfast hosts always replenished the supply and greeted me in the morning.

The hotel also offers a workout room, however it offers very limited Life Fitness brand equipment (2 treadmills, 1 upright bike, and 1 elliptical).

Overall, I am very happy with this hotel as it offers unmatched service, value, and location. Every single staff member smiled and went the extra mile. Special thanks to Karen & Rafael at the front desk!

I was given a non-smoking room which obviously had been smoked in quite recently. No problem-- I bought a vanilla scented candle at the supermarket and it became a bit more tolerable. Otherwise, clean, affordable and good location.
