“Mixed bag, but had a good weekend away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2012 via mobile

The service here is Great, and that's what saved me from going down the 3-star route for my stay.
Check in was fine, have to use your key card to get te elevator to work. Room was fine as well until we got to the bathroom, where at 11:45pm after a shower we discovered shaved facial hair all over the tub. They offered to change our room, we decline since it was late, and asked for Starwood points instead. We did request that the cleaning service clean the bathroom next morning-they did and missed the facial hair again!!
So low points on cleanliness, but you get a clean bed, Clem an sheets, descent cable, free wifi, and access to some great Cambridge eating joints!
Kudos to the front desk staff for taking care of us, heavy recommendation that they get better cleaning staff (that don't scream at 10am on a weekend morning too!)

Good location near Harvard and MIT. Comfortable room. Parking next door is about $20 per day.

I stayed here back in September 2011, and am just getting to writing this review now. This is a great hotel that is conveniently close to Harvard and MIT campuses, and not too far from downtown Boston (about 6 train stops if I remember correctly). It is very modern, and the room I stayed in was very spacious with a very comfortable bed. The staff was very friendly and had great customer service.

If you get a chance, stop by the hotel restaurant (I can't remember the name), but I had the lobster mac and cheese which was really good!

I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely go back.

My friend and I split a room for the weekend while we attended a "camp" in Boston. We are both local but didnt want to deal with driving/parking/public transportation so we just shared a room for the weekend. The room was very clean and the entire hotel is very modern. The staff was very friendly. We had two big, comfy queen sized beds with tons of pillows.
The shower drain was slow the first day and pretty much clogged the second day which was kind of a bummer. Since we were there for such a short time we didn't bother to complain about it. The only issue I had with the hotel is we were charged $9 on our final bill for the "honor bar." We did not touch a single thing in the honor bar and since you could decline maid service no one had been in our room besides us to even check to see if anything was missing from the honor bar to bill us for it (we received the bill under our door before we checked out.) This leads me to believe they charge everyone for the honor bar and hope people dont notice. As soon as I called adn questioned it they took it off my bill. Other than that it was a nice place to crash at night for the weekend.

Jeremy M, Director of Sales at Le Meridien Cambridge - MIT, responded to this review, March 21, 2012
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your overall experience at Le Méridien Cambridge-MIT, but we are very sorry to receive the comments about some of the amenities we offer for our guests. We want you to know that we take guest feedback very seriously and we have addressed your concerns with our management team.

Our automatic mini-bar system or ‘honor bar’ is equipped with sensors which connect directly with our billing system, providing real time charges. Once you remove an item from the mini-bar, the sensor will trigger a delay, so you can look at the item and put it back. If you don't put it back within 60 seconds, you are charged the price that corresponds with the item you removed.

There are obvious challenges with the ability to verify accurate consumption from our guest, therefore making it equally important for the guest to validate all charges stated on the guest folio (or invoice). Our operations team will assist in the reconciliation process by offering a copy of the invoice (under the door) on the morning of the check out date and personally review the bill with the guest upon check-out. All customer touch points listed above correlate to the operational standards we follow during the check out process.

We hope this response is helpful in the future as we look forward to welcoming you back to Le Méridien when you return to the Boston area.

Great "city" hotel- the rooms are modern and clean, yet on the smaller side. Good location right off a side street of Mass Ave on MIT campus. The hotel is pretty small, only 8 floors, so the view is pretty much limited to the MIT surrounding buildings. Excellent service -- everyone goes out of their way to accomodate. If you're looking for a big gym, this would not be the hotel-- there are a few aerobic machines and then free weights...but you can make it work.

I have been staying in this hotel every week for past few months. The hotel is around the MIT campus and has a lot of choices to eat. Some rooms are very old fashioned with external closets. Bathroom sinks are terrible.

Let me start out by saying that the people at this hotel are very nice. They are helpful at check-in and with making sure that your needs are managed. But for an upscale property, I expect that the beds would be at least as comfortable as their sister-chain beds. You'll find the duvets to be nice, but I found the mattress to be wanting. Room was standard. I'm not sure I'd call this luxurious as others have said...not even understated luxury.

I'd recommend either Sheraton or Westin in Back Bay over this property. Stayed here mainly because this is where my meeting was held.
