“Great location, charming, would stay again & recommend to friends/family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

Most accurate points have been mentioned by fellow travelers. To highlight pros and cons:

Pros:
-great location when visiting the south
-perfect distance from main road to embrace peace & quiet
-charming & cozy log cabin feel (structure imported from Canada)
-hot tub is a nice touch when coming home from a full day of touring
-breakfast buffet inclusion
-clean
-fast, reliable & complimentary internet

Concessions:
-bottom floor can be a bit noisy, as can rooms next to hot tub, so as others have suggested, aim for a room on top floor
-while the breakfast buffet is sufficient, the buffet space area is quite constricted despite having plenty of tables at which to dine. If you go during 'peak hours' the entirety of occupants will be jockeying for bits and bites and one must be very patient. If you are a hard core coffee drinker you will tire of their corporate lunchroom style coffee dispenser which spurts out a half a cup of coffee/hot water at a time. Smile, zen out, and focus on the beauty of Iceland while you wait in a queue for the horde to fill their cups
-while the hot tub was a great plus, often there are large parties/families using it which leaves no room for others
-as others have said, there isn't an in house restaurant however, they do offer pizzas and other snacks to tide one over or you can take a road trip to two nearby restaurants as others have mentioned. Yes, Iceland is expensive (especially when converting USD) so be prepared to pay

This hotel is build like a log house. Very warm, inviting and beautiful. Combination of rustic coziness and modern technology. Impeccably clean rooms, bathrooms, great breakfast with only fresh products. Free wi- fi, hot tub on the terrace with great views. The hotel manager Ilja was very helpful. We arrived late, still he came out to greet us and helped with all the advice where to go next day. He recommended the local museum with exhibition and movie about volcano Eyjafjallajökull and the local farm affected by it. We enjoyed it very much. Was such a good advice.
This is the place I would like to come back one day!

The hotel is new and beautiful. It is situated at the base of a large rock formation and behind that is glacier covered mountains. It was very beautiful and we did enjoy our stay. The bathroom was very clean and modern. Free wifi was dependable and useful.

The breakfast buffet was very limited and did not offer water as one of the beverages. This could be due to the limited amount of room at the buffet. Fruit slices were offered instead of the whole apple. There is no restaurant which can be a challenge in Iceland as the 'next town over' is 20-30 minutes drive. We drove to Hotel Ranga one night and Vik another night. Both restaurants for two people without drinks was over $100 US. Ranga was good, the hotel restaurant in Vik was not great and very small servings.

We needed some help with reservations for day activities but there was not a service desk where someone would be.You could buzz a guy out of his room to come help, but that felt a bit awkward.

If we stayed one night I would have given this five stars, but after a few days of driving around and looking for food that challenge pulled our score down.

Room Tip: The ocean view looks at a berm, not the ocean, and the mountain view looks at a rock formation, not...

This was a delightful log cabin at the base of the mountain. Gorgeous setting. Our room was clean, large by European standards, and the shower was strong and fully enclosed. Breakfast buffet was adequate, but nothing special. Really liked the tranquil setting!

If you are planning a trip to Southern Iceland, The Welcome Hotel Lambafell was in a fantastic location. The hotel is surrounded by a mountainous landscape set right off the main road.It is very close to Skogarfoss Waterfall. The hotel is inviting and it was a true delight that we stayed there for one night. The foyer of the Lambafell is stunning and spacious with comfortable seating for guests to congregate. The rooms were large in size and the beds were comfortable and all areas of the hotel were clean. The hotel attendant was very helpful with giving us information about ferry schedules to the Westerman Islands as well as swimmming information about a geothermal pool in Sejavallalaug. If I return to Iceland, I will stay at the Lambafell. I would be happy to review this hotel again. I hope to give them a five star rating if they upgrade the wi-fi to be in all guest rooms instead of the common areas. Give it a try, you will love it!

Room Tip: I would highly recommend a room on the second floor with a terrace. It is well worth the little extr...

We really loved this place!
It's a very beautiful building (photos are totally real). Facilities are new, clean and stylish.
There's a nice small bath outside with a view on Eyjafjallajökull, which is great especially in the evening time.
Unfortunately, we stayed for one day only, but if we come to Iceland again, we'll definitely plan a longer visit to this hotel.
If you're going on the circle road or just plan a short tour to south Iceland - it's the best place on your way!

Good location for our purpose, which was to explore the coast between Reykjavik and Jökulsárlón (don't miss the later, totally amazaing!). We drove to the hotel from Keflavik airport (via Bluge Lagoon) which was a few hours drive. The hotel was perfect to use as base for our trip along the coast which made for a great daystrip that would have not been as great with the few extra hours drive had we been based in Reykjavik instead.

The hotel itself is new and fresh. The rooms are basic but spacious and clean and the single beds can be moved toghether to create a double bed. Walls are however very thin and we could hear everything from both the corridor and the hottub outside. We didn't try the hottub since we crashed as soon as we got there but it seemed nice. Breakfast was basic but had what you need to start of the day.

Our biggest complaint was that the person working at the hotel was unable to give us any kind of tips regarding places to eat on the way to Jökulsárlón, I would have expected some kind of local knowledge.

Room Tip: Try to stay away from the rooms close to the hottup since the noice from people talking in the hottu...
