I stayed at Café Eldstó in the middle of September, over the summer I have been traveling all over the summer because of my work, staying at all kinds of guesthouses and hotels. Café Eldstó was my favorite and of all the places I rested best there, it is a well isolated, great big beds with a healthy good breakfast and no stress.
If you're traveling in south of Iceland and want to rest well and be close to all service when you start the day, I would recommend Café Eldstó, the wine(liquor) store is just 2 minutes away as well as the supermarket and gas station. There are also restaurants in walking distance and it's placement is centered in south of Iceland so it is about 1-2 hour drive to magical nature: Gullfoss, Geysir, Hekla, Landmannalaugar, Skógarfoss, Reynisfjara etc.
