Our child loved the roof top pool, and sauna. We went with 2 other couples and their children. The rooms wer OK nothing to brag about, Not a bad hotel though. We went for the state fair last year.

I grew up in Springfield, although I now live in Reno, Nv. Me and the kids had taken the Amtrak back to visit Grandmother and needed a break from Grandmother's house so we stayed at the Crowne Plaza for a few nights. It was not cheap, but it was worth it:) The kids had a blast with the roof top swimming pool and I loved lounging up there, The kids were also very impressed with the interior of the hotel as it was very nice looking. The room it'sself was very comfy, clean and quiet, we had a blast at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone !

We've stayed in the Crowne Plaza several times and have always been happy with our stay! Our rooms are always clean and comfortable. The staff has always been pleasant. The price has always been good. For Springfield, I can't believe how low on the list this is! Really? The Super 8 is better than the Crowne Plaza? I think this shows some ineffectual scoring of some sort. Anyway, I recommend the hotel.
I reserved a non-smoking room as part of a conference with my credit card and was very disappointed to find that Crowne Plaza "does not guarantee the room type, with respect to smoking or nonsmoking; they only guarantee that there is a room available". Unfortunately my nonsmoking preference was not honored. I was forced to suffer with headache and sore throat, as well as shortness of breath with asthma. Unfortunately, even freshening the room with air freshener, and opening the window, and having the maintenance person change the air filter, did not eliminate the toxic fumes and effects on my health. Shame on you, Crowne Plaza for a lousy policy that does not honor a non-smoker's basic right to breathe clean air.
When I first arrived, with a group, it was plain to see that a huge convention was in progress. I was prepared for noise, lousy service, etc. Well, none of that transpired. The desk staff was a bit harried and stiff but not impolite.
A lady in my group had hurt her arm and needed medical attention. I had called the hotel in advance to alert them and as soon as we arrived, a hotel man was there to take her to emergency in the hotel van. He even waited for her while she got the x-ray. (It was a sprain, not a broken arm as it turned out) Their attention to this impressed me very much.
My room was very large and nicely appointed. No complaints.
The Rosewood Room was ok for this style hotel. Average food but acceptable. Service was pleasant. Cost very reasonable.
The hotel is located on the edge of town so a car is necessary if you stay here. The big attraction in Springfield is the fabulous new Lincoln Museum! The State Capitol is also very nice to see.
