While slightly over priced, the Hilton in Springfield is a terrific location for doing business with the state. Upper floor rooms have a nice view of the city, the Bennigans attached to the hotel is a novelty now that the chain is gone but is of average quality. The nearby parking garage is somewhat over priced for a town of this size.

Rooms are recently renovated but do show some signs of age. The breakfast buffet is or reasonable quality, but what is free and what isn't for non Hilton Honors members is of some concern.

It's a shame, really that business no longer warrants the top floor restaurant and lounge being open, as having dinner on the top floor of the hotel seems as if it would have been a great deal of fun.

Like most Hilton's, it's a bit pricey. The Business Center is extra and a bit expensive. The High Speed Internet was not, as of my stay, either complimentary for Hilton Honors members or an expense that could be rolled in as part of one's bill, and the signal was lacking a bit on top floors.

But if you have work to do downtown, and you want to walk to your destination. Splurge.

We were meeting another family in Springfield IL to celebrate NYE. We have 4 boys and they have 2 . We booked 2 double rooms and a king suite. Upon checkin, I requested a suite with a connecting room with a good view of the fireworks, and that our friend's room be very close by. The front desk staff was incredibly accommodating! They juggled things to fit all my requests, and gave us a spectacular view of the fireworks which were really fantastic. The hotel is hexagonal(or possibly octagonal) in design, and our room on the 22nd floor had the PERFECT view.
The hotel has been remodeled, but still shows signs of age. There were still signs in the elevator advertising the bar and restaurant at the top floor which have long closed. (Too Bad!) The staff however, more than make up for it! Everyone from the Bellman, Concierge, front desk, maintenance, to the gift shop were incredibly friendly. The breakfast buffet was also nice. (but not free). The work out room is one of the nicer hotel gyms I've seen and VERY CLEAN! They even provided headphones with disposable foam earpiece covers.
The hotel lacks a hot tub which was rather disappointing. Other suggestions, the King Jr. Suite should have a microwave and a coffee table and loveseat rather than a lounge chair. There is plenty of room on the nice long counter for a microwave & wetbar. I can understand adding a wetbar would involve considerable expense, but a microwave would not. The bathroom was very tiny.

  • Liked — The friendly staff and the nice gym
  • Disliked — The pool area was small, the concrete was aggregate floor was crumbling and there was NO HOTTUB

the check in staff was decent. there was no wait which was nice. the elevators took a while to go up to the 23rd floor, but thats to be expected when htey have a New years eve party. eople were up partyin until 5 am and not very quiet the floor above. the bathroom door slide which was werid and it didn't lock which i don't like. the queen size beds seem small for me and my boyfreidn. the view was nice. you could smell the chemicals in the lobby from the pool, which was a floor down.

I was booked here for a conference by my client. I am a Gold HHonors member. The location was easy to find and convenient to visiting the tourist attractions that are within walking distance.
My room was on the 28th floor and was very comfortable.
The breakfast buffet was delicious.
The check in was a joke. I stood in the Honors Line ( for expedient check in for Honors members...there were 2 signs.) The line was long and filled with those who were attending a conference but not Honors members HOWEVER I was told ( by them) that they already had a reservation and would be quick. I mentioned LOUDLY that this was an Honors line but no luck...I guess they do no care about loyalty. I also spoke personally with a Bellman who promised me that he would be down to help me in a few minutes. After 30 minutes I went to get the bell cage to get my own luggage...too bad they do not care about customer service as the hotel rooms themselves are quite lovely and the food was great. I would check into other options if I were to return.

I stayed at this hotel a year ago and it was OK. They've completed several upgrades, so the rooms are much nicer now.

That wasn't the issue, though I do hate the sliding bathroom door.

The issue was the loud women next door who came in screaming at 9 pm. We were tired from a long road trip and decided to stop to rest instead of driving the whole way that night. The noise -- loud talking and laughing-- continued until 10 pm at which time I called the front desk to complain.

They said they'd send up security. Maybe they did. I didn't hear anyone come up. The loud noise continued until 11pm when I called the front desk again. They said they'd call security again.

Why didn't security take care of it the first time?? And why didn't the hotel make some effort like giving me a discount or at the very least free breakfast. They didn't care.

Plus, the train woke me up twice once the group of loud women finally shut up. Too bad the upgrades didn't include sound-proofing.

Not worth the $180 I spent!! And I'll never stay there again.
