My Sister and I stayed in November of 2006.
We stayed because we had heard/read that there was a high level of paranormal activity there. I lived next door as a child in what is now a parking lot on the building's north side. I always felt like there was something very special about the place.

We were indeed able to capture, audio, video and still pictures and yes we heard noises in our room in the middle of the night which we were not able to explain. but nothing ominous or frightening.

The staff was wonderful, courteous, friendly... they brought us cookies in the evening to our room, there was wine and cheeses down stairs... this place was top notch all the way!

The next morning we were served a fantastic breakfast!

I would highly recommend this place to anyone, business traveler, tourist or paranormal researcher!

Great job in restoring this beautiful place Mr. and Mrs Conn I'm sure Belle is smiling down on you :)

My husband and I spent our first anniversary at this Inn when we had to make an emergency trip to Illinois rather than taking our originally scheduled vacation.

I found the inn online and was pleased to see that it was even prettier in person than in the pictures. We booked at the last minute but were able to get the room requested. We stayed in the Hydrangea room and absolutely loved it. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. We really enjoyed the jacuzzi tub in the bathroom and the nice toiletries provided.

We thought the staff was gracious and the breakfast tasty. The wine provided in the evening was a nice extra touch and the games and books available for use made it even more fun.

All in all, it was a great stay and I would highly recommend it to visitors to the Springfield area. It was a nice consolation prize for rescheduling our anniversary trip.

Having read all the favourable comments about the Inn at 835, we were looking forward to our stay. However, we were a little disappointed as the Inn is not really a "bed and breakfast" as we know it, but more a small hotel and therefore we felt it lacked the personal touch.

Our room (Iris) was lovely, with a very comfortable bed, and it was well equipped. We had a private verandah, which was great on warm afternoons, with a bottle of wine to hand! Housekeeping was good and efficient as the room was spotlessly clean.

We were disappointed with the breakfasts; we stayed for 3 nights and were served with exactly the same breakfast on 2 mornings. We also felt the food had a processed feel about it.

We were unfortunate to have a room located directly underneath (we believe) a room with a jacuzzi - the occupants selfishly used it several times during the night, thereby disrupting our sleep. Not the fault of the hotel, but it would be nice if the staff would point out that, due to its age, the hotel could be noisy and ask guests to be considerate of other guests.

Please don't think we didn't enjoy our stay, because we did, but we didn't think it lived up to expectations. We would, however, recommend it to others, subject to the above comments.

I surprised my wife with a trip to this place and it was perfect. We chose one of the suites in the back (the Lavender suite) and it was very nice. The staff are great. I had read about their french toast on some reviews but they were not planning on making it in the morning (we only stayed one night) b/c it was already on the menu that morning before we checked in. They actually made the dish special for us b/c I told them why we were there that weekend (celebrating our engagement anniversery) and how much my wife loved french toast. The food, in all, was excellent and we really enjoyed the wine tasting they had in the evening. One more thing about they accomodating staff; they even let me use their computer to do my fantasy football lineup! We will deinitely return for another visit!
