I second the reviews of people who, like us, were housed in the house next door. 2nd rate to be sure. I didn't realize the price difference meant such a reduction in quality. Their website should clearly state the differences in the 2 houses as it relates to ambience and food. It is misleading.
Yes, the host was friendly and shared menus with us. We arrived at 3:30 and a girl was still cleaning our room. No problem-we drove around. Location is a plus, right across from the Lincoln home street. The room was clean, however there was only 1/2 roll of toilet paper and no extras in sight. Only 2 towels per person - a bath towel and a washcloth. No handtowels or the size a woman would use to wrap her wet hair in. Surely the owner can provide adequate towels! I did not discover this until late at night, so if we could have asked for more, it was too late to find out.
Very loud sounds from other guests on the floor opening and shutting their doors and the hall bathroom door - the people weren't loud; the doors were.
Our room was on the back and had a small porch overlooking the backyard - one of the reasons we chose it. We like to be outdoors. It is among large trees, a plus, however there were leaves, tree debris, and just plain dirt on the porch - a daily sweeping of this would take only a couple minutes and should be required. Also there were cigarette butts in an ashtray there. Ugh. The bed was ok, a little soft. We opened the door to the porch for some nice night air - don't like air conditioning much. I was startled awake by one of the nearby trains (about 2 blocks away) which made regular runs all night long and blasted its horn for a looooong time - not just short blasts. It was so bad I shut the porch door, but was still conscious of it throughout the night, and I'm not really a light sleeper. When laying there awake, I could smell the mold/mustiness of the room.
I could not believe the measly breakfast set up, as others have mentioned. Boxes of cereal on top of the refrig., a carton of juice and milk, some yogurt, a half loaf of bread, and old-looking donuts - could they at least have had some nice pastries??? Why doesn't the website tell you their "full breakfast" is what it is? Or make a distinction between each house's offerings.
The other house did look nicer, and according to other review, those guests received a nice breakfast. We felt like the poor cousins not worthy of attention. You can find a better place for your money.
