“Inexcusable service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2011

My wife made a reservation for my birthday dinner. We arrived on time but were not greeted by the hostess for 15 minutes. The hostess was busy setting a table for a group of walk up diners. After seating them she looked quite surprised when told we had a reservation. She led us to the very rear of the restaurant to a table the size of a handkerchief that was situated between the doors to the toilets and the kitchen! We asked to be seated at a different table but she said this was the only table available. I suggested that she gave our table to the previous party but she offered no response nor apology. We left immediately and walked around the square to Maldaners where we had a terrific meal.
I have eaten dozens of times at Augies, but will never return. The food is not THAT good.

“Some good food....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2011

My family and I went for a dinner one night. We usually shy away from expensive restraunts but decided to treat ourselves. The service was great and I loved the wine that was picked out for me. My mother and I both shared the goat chesse salad and still rave about it today. My only problem was some of the dishes were overcooked( the duck) but my lamb was perfect, just thought the polenta cake underneath was way to big and thick. Not everyone thought it was a dinner worth over $200.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2010

We were traveling through the Springfield area and went to this restaurant expecting a special dinner. It was very disappointing. The steak was undercooked to my specifications and not a quality selection of meat, the potatoes and vegetables were undercooked and very bland. The service was also much to be desired. We waiting for an hour before getting our dinner and there was no explanation from the waiter. I would not recommend this restaurant. Poor quality for the price.

“Pleasant environment, good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2010

It wasn't a busy night for our visit so it was a quiet atmosphere. The food was delicious and the waiter, while a bit nervous or new to his job, was attentive and did just fine. Each of us enjoyed our entrees, a bottle of wine, and had a nice evening.

“Stopped in for lunch after visiting...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2010

Stopped in for lunch after visiting Lincon's museum. We were impressed with how great the salmon was and they even shared the recipe. We may go back again for dinner.
