We thought we were getting a good deal, but we were getting what we paid for. We walked in and there were stains on the lobby floor, elevator, all the way up to and including the room. I travel with clorox disinfecting wipes and when i wiped the sink in the bathroom black came off. (i took pictures that i will post later) i wiped the tub, more dirt came off. hotels are not the cleanest places in the world, we know that. I would just like to think that they would at least wipe off the surfaces that are frequently used. The sheets had stains and hair on them and when we requested that the sheets be changed,they cranked the heat up so high that upon our return to the room it felt as if we were entering a sauna. The sheets were still dirty so we went to Target to purchase sheets for the bed so my children wouldn't be exposed to anymore dirt than they already had. We checked out as soon as we woke up and went to Staybridge Suites. You get what you pay for.

This was a nice basic place to stay one night as we passed through Springfield. The front desk clerk was very pleasant. Our room was compact but very clean. The bed was moderately firm which works well for my back problems. There are a number of chain restaurants surrounding the Microtel for a quick meal. Senior citizen discount rates start at age 50.....so we took advantage of that discount. We would stay here again if we were passing through town for one night.

I"ve never heard a ton about Microtels before, but we were told that it was a nice place to stay by one of the locals. The room is great! Very clean and nicely laid out. Mirrors behind the beds make the room seem larger. The front desk staff was very helpful and polite. Lots of restuarants nearby (a few within walking distance). 10 minutes away from downtown Springfield where we spent the day at the Lincoln museum and current and old capitol buildings. Great place to stay!

This place just got new flat panel televisions for every room, a cozy window daybed, and for 1/3 less than some of the nearby hotels, was perfect for the price. Only problem was they forgot the shampoo for my room.
