We spent two nights here at the end of July while we toured Springfield. Two adults and three kids, two of which are teenagers. We had two rooms reserved for both nights.

The hotel was solid. Both rooms were clean and though not spacious, not small either. Bathrooms were also clean. Pool area was also nice. Front desk personnel were friendly and helpful.

The breakfast area was quite small. Both the food area and the tables were a little cramped, though the food itself was fine.

Overall, this was a fine value.

I have stayed at the Baymont numerous times in the past, but on this trip, I was disappointed with the hotel. The previous staff was courteous and helpful, but the current desk clerks are cold and uncaring. They quoted us different prices twice, recanting their first cheaper price in favor of the regular rate. We still booked the rooms, but we were discouraged to find that they were littered with signs of previous guests, such as nail clippings beside the beds. The higher rate would have been okay if the rooms had justified such an increase. I have qualms about visiting this hotel again.

There are only two local restaurants and a McDonald's close to the Baymont Inn. However, all of the major shopping, restaurants, and mall are within 10 minutes of highway driving, so the Inn is not completely remote and isolated.

This hotel would suit the undiscerning traveler. For its price, it does well in boasting friendly staff, a pool, 27" TVs with movies, and a free breakfast. (Continental breakfast not as good as the lower Marriott chains, but it is decent if you like donuts, muffins, cereals, etc.) The bathrooms are a little on the small/cramped size. This hotel is not unlike some La Quita hotels out there.

There are better hotels out there, but this one holds its own in the middle of the pack. If you are looking for a clean, no-frills hotel for a reasonable price, this one would do the trick.

My mother passed away July 5th 2004. We immediately made reservations for all 21 of us to come from New Mexico to Springfield, Illinois, most driving, a couple flying.
Reservations were made for July 7th for 5 double rooms, two long distance phone calls were made to confirm this.
We all arrived about 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm on day of reservations.
A little girl that looked like she was about 14 was behind the counter told us sorry no rooms.
We were forced to drive miles away to find another motel, missing family gathering with mothers minister.
We will forever have pain and sadness over the Baymonts" incompetence and indifferance.
