“Fun downtown restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

Many of the downtown places are old establishment, boring places. Brick house has a bar but is quiet enough to talk with your friends at the table. Lots of TVs for sports. Food is normal size portions and better than your average bar food. They also have lots of salad entrees and several healthy meat-containing entrees that come with rice and mixed vegetables. Friendly staff too.

“I can die now I had my Horseshoe!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

All my friends in Chicago said I had to have a Horshoe sandwich if I was going to Springfield. So I did!!! A staffer at The Lincoln Museum suggested The Brickhouse for lunch. The food was so tasty and everyone in our party had something different. The staff was so friendly.

“Small downtown bar, good for sports ok for food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014 via mobile

Not quite a 'hole in the wall' type bar but it is quite small and more a bar than a restaurant. A good number of screens for watching sports and reasonable beer selection to go along with it, although the number of beers available has been reduced judging by the number of entries crossed off the menu. A reasonable selection of food covering all the usual bases which I'm guessing will be well cooked and tasty enough based on my one meal.
This was my first try of a local favorite the horseshoe, french toast, topped with some form of meat such as a burger topped with fries and cheese sauce, there were several different meats to choose from.

“NIce place to catch a game”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014

Were there in June 14 during soccer time. Food is standard fare but lots to choose from. We had a group of 9 people and there was an L shapped high table near the back that accommodated us easily. One person in the group was VERY happy as they had PBR on the list!!! Everyone was friendly. Good place to catch some sports and get a beer!

“great food - not so great service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

After visiting the Lincoln Museum we walked to the Brickhouse Grill for dinner. Definitely a bar type atmosphere but full restaurant menu. I would think this might be a popular place in the late evenings or to watch a game. As a family for dinner this was also a nice location. Food was great we had hamburgers and wraps and were very pleased with the food. Prices were reasonable. The service was less that great. For example server walked past the table and asked how our food was but was gone before we could answer, tossed bill on the table, etc. I don't expect to be catered to but some genuine courtesy and a smile are always appreciated. Hopefully, the owners read their reviews and will coach their serving staff. Go here for a bite to eat, a beer and maybe watch a game, but have low expectations for service and you'll enjoy yourself.
