“Beautiful, interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

Inside along the walls there are paintings of illinois history. In the center of the rotunda you will see others looking up because there is a a beautiful stained glass ceiling in there. Both the House and Senate meet in the building so that sometimes makes access a hassle

“Beautiful building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

Although it was really hard to find a way to get into the building on the day we visited (MLK holiday) there were tours and we got to see quite a lot. The guide pointed out that although mush of the building looks very grand...much of it is "fake". Many parts of the building were painted to look like marble, stone and copper. I would not have known if it were not pointed out. Very nice little tour and free (if you can find out where to get in)!

“a glimpse into our state government”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

A beautiful building - and such a great opportunity to show our children how and where the laws are made in our state.

I think our best laugh came from seeing the ATM right next to the door to the Treasurer's office! :)

“Beautiful Building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

This was my first visit to Springfield and I thought it would be much larger being the State Capitol. Springfield is a medium size city, and the Capitol Building stands out above everything. It is a beautiful building with great architecture. Worth the visit.

“Where history is made”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Both the OLd State Capitol and New Capitol were on our agenda for the day.The New capitol is simply beautiful! A must see!! You can actually see where law making takes place. Very well informed guides will help you make your way through the hallowed halls!
