“Beautiful Architecture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

A must see in Springfield. This is the 2nd tallest domed capital building in the united states. Walk to the center of the main level and look up = breathtaking. The tour was very informational and showed other original rooms. You can even see where Barack Obama used to sit in the Senate room.

“tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

Our first time here and it was a very informational tour. It was a Sunday and didnt think it would be open since everything else was closed. Learned a lot about Abraham Lincoln.

“Lincoln,s Tomb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

You would have to be without soul not to be moved in the presence of Lincoln, final resting pace and that of his family.

“A Beautiful Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

The exterior of the building is somewhat interesting but the interior is amazing - just as good as the national capitol building, if you can believe it, and about 70 ft higher! The dome, chambers and rotunda are truly beautiful and in perfect condition. The free tour was brief but adequate and one may wander all over the building without accompaniment.

“A bit of nostalgia....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

So far, Illinois has two heroes - Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas. As I walked through the corridor of the portraits of Illinois governors....I had the following thoughts.....list all the 20th. century governors who ended up going to prison...I know of three far. I walked around and found Everett Dirksen's portrait. Walking the corridors goes to show how old I am.
