We arrived at 6pm in January to an empty car park and not a soul to be seen. The place looked closed and I wanted to drive on to find another hotel.
I'm so pleased we didn't. The owner-manager Veigar (spelling?) was so knowledgeable and knew more about the northern lights and places to see on the Snaefell Peninsula than the tourist info office.
The food was great.
Veigar is a night owl and looks out for the northern lights every night. Sadly they didn't appear during our stay there.
The place was scruffy - a previous guest's hair was still in our shower cubicle, but I honestly didn't mind.
The bedrooms are small too but this is a mid-priced place.
It's in a great location, out of town looking over the water to Borganes, and with a big sky to see any northern lights if they appear.
A lovely place run by an enthusiast.
