“Fabulous resort but revisit the last night please!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

Had a fabulous two week trip, week one at the hotel- did a refresher course with Mike who was excellent. We also dinghy sailed and SUPd. Week two we were on flotilla with Tony and Jed who were very professional and both worked really hard to look after everyone including taking on lots of Tom's work! Overall we had a great time. However, having been on many Neilson holidays I found the last night entertainment quite crass for the Neilson brand. Stories about goat island to beg for leftovers like shampoo, repeated by various teams seemed to cheapen the experience and pub type games with people shouting 'down it, down it' and I almost felt like I was in an episode of Benidorm!!!

We just wanted to say what an amazing time we all had in The Retreat last week.
I think the hotel refurb looks wonderful and this is set off by the amazingly attentive staff. We didn’t partake in many activities but the we did do were fab – Bieber on the ski pontoon deserves a special mention here for going the extra mile(literally) by making one of our guests, thirtieth birthday extra special.

All the bar staff also deserve a mention!
I have been to every Neilson Beach club and never received such attentive service. I also worked for Neilson, on the bar for many years and can honestly say the service from the bar staff was outstanding.

The service received from the restaurant staff was also excellent along with the quality of food from the kitchen staff – again best I have seen over the years.

I could not send this email without telling you how much we all enjoyed Jack and his entertainment! Such a talented young man, he clearly has a bright future ahead of him. His dedication made my week! Total bro-mance.

We are already looking to visit you all again in September as we had such an excellent time. #ToatesAmaze

Please could you let everyone know what a wonderful job they are all doing.
Keep up the good work, and see you all soon.

Leon

Great views over the waterskiing, sailing and kayaking areas from the bedrooms and restaurent because of the hotel's location on a steep hill-side. This means there are lots and lots of steps between beaches, bar, restaurents, tennis courts etc. (Make sure you take everything you need for your activity as it is frustrating to have to pop back to your room for something you've forgotten!), All the activities in which we participated were well run by friendly, helpful and well qualified staff.

Food is excellent for buffet style service with plenty of choices so you can be as indulgent or healthy as you choose to be. On non-inclusive evenings there are plenty of restaurents to go to in Sivota which is a 10 minute walk or 10 minute water taxi ride away.

Highlights of the week for me were completing the 1.5 mile swim around Goat Island in just under one hour and the 28km cycle ride to Katie's Sweets in Perdica for coffee and chocolate brownies. (It's great to be able to do a bike ride without having to mend punctures first.)

We hope to return to Sivota later in the season to try and crack wake-boarding. We were able to get upright but doing turns always ended in a head-plant.

The quality of the Neilson brand shines through at the fantastic resort. My boyfriend and I have just returned from 2 weeks at The Retreat in Sivota and we just wish we could head straight back out there. A fantastic range of activities to suit all. We enjoyed the challenge of the long road bike rides as much as relaxing by the pool and the simply stunning views wherever you look. The food is excellent. The equipment is of a high quality and well looked after. The staff are very friendly and will help/encourage/inspire you however they can. Any problems that may occur are dealt with promptly and efficiently. The highlight for us was swimming the 1.5 miles around Goat Island, a truly special and unique experience. There are lots of steps, but as someone else says, they are steps to heaven, and quite frankly, if you chose an activity based holiday you can't complain at a few steps. Rooms are relatively basic, but have everything you need and are spotlessly clean. No need for more in the bedrooms when there is so much to do and enjoy outside!

The local small town of Sivota is a short walk/boat ride/kayak away and has a fantastic range of quality tavernas. The sunsets from the bay are simply stunning.

Thank you to all the Neilson staff at The Resort. We hope we can come again soon.

Room Tip: We stayed in a Garden room. All of the Garden Rooms enjoy a sea view and have either a ground terrac...

Just had a week here with a friend. The scenery was stunning, hotel spotless and very comfortable, food was excellent (if a little bit samey). The number of activities was impressive, it's just a same that I couldn't do them all! Sailing here is in very light winds which goes in all directions when it does blow. The staff were great and Jack did a super job of entertaining us with his singing and acoustic guitar. All the activity instructors were excellent at their job too, so "Thank you Neilson, we've had a brilliant time".

Room Tip: Garden Rooms are quieter.

Just returned from an epic experience at the Retreat near Sivota. Came highly recommended but exceeded on all fronts. Recently refurbished, the main resort areas were all superb with stunning aspects and excellently furnished. I have to start by commenting on the input from the staff - without exception they were friendly, hard-working, motivated, well-managed and seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs. Teamwork was very much in evidence - not least on the volleyball court where "we guests" were given a sound thrashing after a haka that the All Blacks would have been proud of ! Any courses I attended involved excellent coaching and useful tips - I can now roll a kayak with some confidence. The range of activities available was "dizzying" making it very difficult to pack them all in. The Monday morning meeting and subsequent "sign-up" session was a bit hectic and slightly stressful but guests need not worry as they will be able to do as much or as little as they choose over the course of the week. The quality of equipment and facilities are of the highest standard - a good range of Trek road and mountain bikes, excellent tennis courts and superb boating and boarding equipment of every type. Rooms were lovely with beautiful sea views and well tended by local staff. The food was also of a very high standard - clearly freshly prepared and catering for all tastes.
I will finish with an example of "going the extra mile" which the staff often provided. I went on an 80km cycle on Saturday which comprised four long climbs in 30 degrees of heat. At the top of the final climb before the descent back in to Syvota, James (our leader) phoned ahead and Andreas met us at the summit with fresh water bottles filled with ice cold Coke and soda water - a lovely touch and very much appreciated.
We will be back!

2 weeks in the wonderful Retreat in Sivota was just not enough. We went for a family activity holiday. Our 3 daughters (11,9,7) had the best time ever, learning to kayak, sail, windsurf and paddle board. They simply didn't want to spend any time with us. So thanks to the wonderful Kids Club staff for that. Husband was fully happy with the hills around Sivota which made his road bike experiences good for training and Kate's Cakes stop make the hill work worth it. Big thanks to all the bike crew even I loved the hills. No flat roads to be had. I had plenty to do like relax in the many locations around The Retreat whether swimming in the sea, pool, doing Pilates, yoga, paddle boarding or kayaking. We all loved it. Food was also amazing I've never ate so much healthy delicious food I actually feel a little slimmer. All the staff from info, to bar, to beach, fitness to cleaners were amazing. LOTS OF STEPS ( like I said I think I've come back slimmer!!!)

Room Tip: All rooms have beautiful views but if you go for Garden Rooms try to get the first floor.
