Sivota is such a beautiful place and The Sivota Diamond is a beautiful hotel. It is SO close to 5 stars but there a couple of very small things that let it down.
We stayed in a Deluxe Villa with pool. There are three of these and they are basically a living room, bathroom and bedroom. We have three children and the villas seemed the perfect as they stated that they slept up to 5 and it was the same price as booking two rooms. The children were on two sofa beds, one large and one small. They looked very uncomfortable and creaked terribly all night. As this was the living room of the villas, there were coffee tables and furniture pushed into the corners to make room for the beds and it was a miracle we didn't trip over one of them during our stay. There was also only one bathroom, which led off the living room, this was also a pain with 5 of us needing to use it. In the future I would definitely go for 2 rooms. On the plus side, if you only had one child or were a couple, the rooms were beautifully furnished, very clean and the pool was great, with nice outdoor furniture. We would have liked a better view, but you could just see the harbour in the distance.
Food and Restaurants
Breakfast was disappointing, this is a 5 star hotel and you expect certain things, such as freshly squeezed orange juice, eggs cooked to order etc. Here, there was only orange or lemon concentrate and pre-cooked eggs. It was fine, but we have had much better. The dinner buffet was similar, not an awful lot of choice, but we did always enjoy our meals, especially the Greek night with some really different and unusual dishes. The pool bar served fantastic poolside lunches, really fabulous burgers, club sandwiches and souvlaki. One thing to really shout about were the amazing cocktails, really well made.
The best thing about this hotel is the amazing view from the pool. The pools themselves are lovely, but the views from the sun beds were fabulous. A nice touch was the chilled water brought to us as soon as we sat down and constantly refilled. The spa looked great, but we didn't use it.
The beach was a really pleasant surprise. We hadn't seen it mentioned anywhere, but when we asked at reception, they told us that a car would take us to the beach and pick us up on return. You could walk it, but in the heat a car was great! They gave us a card to get free sun beds and towels to take too. The beach is a tiny cove, really pretty with crystal clear water. The sun beds and umbrellas essential and with waiter service from the beach bar. Good food was served there too.
We absolutely loved Sivota town, the 10 minute walk down in the evening was lovely, it is a hard walk back up, but still only 10-15 mins max and if you are really tired, a taxi will take you for 4 euros. We wished we weren't half board as the restaurants on the harbour front and in the town were lovely and really inexpensive. We loved sitting in Bamboo Place having a cocktail watching the sunset.
The area really is stunning and we will definitely return to both Sivota and to the Diamond.
Double bed rooms with sea view would be our choice next time. The villas were lovely, but as a coupl...
