Booked kalimera kriti for my family 2 adults and 2 children 5&2 and my parents.
Private transfer from airport approx 40 mins.Arrived at hotel 6am take to rooms- bungalows good location with partial sea view ( not booked) beside each other close to main building and other facilities.
Accomodation very basic ,with little or no storage and bathroom floods when run out bath again no sorage or hanging space for towels.
Food very repetitive and very average, never took served main at night as on first night it was cold and revolting!.served main appeared to be recycled the following night in the buffet- so watch and avoid the variations on the theme!Best to stick to the salads and desserts.
Waiters push past when coming from buffet ,problem seems to come from no apparent maitre'd or one who has no control .
Pools very good, never very busy and excellent for children and families.
Childrens pools excellent, but could be shaded from sun better.Childrens disco at night and various movies on certain night which children enjoyed enormously.
Good holiday if you are wanting somwhere that family can relax and children are amused, but do not expect luxury.Food disappoining and lack of management. A 4 * hotel at very best.

“Great place”

Kalimera Kriti Hotel Village Resort

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Kalimera Kriti in June 06 and it is the only place we've been to that we were actually sad to leave and will definitely go back to.
As other reviews point out, English are in the minority with most guests being German. This made for a good atmosphere as the World cup was being shown on the large amphitheater screen while we were there. Children are in abundance but the complex is so large with various sporting activities that it was easy to keep away from them if you are after peace & quiet. It's a good place to goto if you have a family certainly.
The sun loungers on the beach are free and the beach is nice.
We had a room that was quite a walk away from the main building but it had a good view and the walk helped to counteract over indulging at meal times. The food is the hotel's best attribute in my opinion and make sure you sample the fresh waffles with chocolate & cream in a morning! I miss those.
The only criticism I have is for all the space and amenities the hotel has, there is no gym.
The complex is quite remote, you can walk to Sissi along the coast line but Sissi is far from quaint and full of not very nice restaurants. If you need nightlife then Malia is a short taxi ride away (but far enough away not to be a nuisance!)

“Relaxing holiday”

Kalimera Kriti Hotel Village Resort

We had an excellent week, the weather was gorgeous if a little hot as we caught the end of the heatwave, then in came the wind and whipped up the ocean, but overall a great experience. There was a variety of nationalities staying on the complex with the British being in the minority.
We were very surprised to encounter the problem of no overhead shower facility in the bathroom, for a 5 star hotel this was very disappointing and could easily be remedied by the hotel. Also to provide tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be good. We were in room A204 - which had the most usable balcony that wrapped round both corners overlooking the sea and picked up the sunset and cooling breeze in the evening.
You do have to like children (quite a lot of them the week we were there). I did not like them running around and crying at mealtimes. Possibly the hotel could set aside an area that could be for adults only for the evening meal. The hotel does cater very well for children and the two shallow rock pool areas on the beach are ideal and safe. The staff are all very good and family orientated.
We cannot speak highly enough of all the staff, from your cleaning lady, waiters etc, and to the lovely man who made the cocktails etc on the upper terrace bar. The cleanliness, spaciousness and tranquility of this resort, including the very substantial food made this a very enjoyable holiday. It is quite a long walk into Sissi village, so therefore the resort is quite isolated but we did use the local bus to the nearby towns, also did a trip to Spinalonga, although I would recommend this to be done independantly as the included trip to the beach and bbq left a lot to be desired.
I would certainly recommend this resort as long as the above points are taken into consideration.

We spent one week at the Kalimera Kriti and experienced outstanding service and received good value for money.

The room was big (we had room A138, a waterfront bungalow) that was about 300 steps away from the main building (yes, I really counted the steps...).

The good things: Breakfast and dinner buffet were very, very good. A good choice of everything you would like to have on your plate was there.

There are actually two beaches you can go to. One is more protected as the other. So you have a choice where you want to swim.

As the whole resort offers many opportunities where you can have lunch, drink an expresso or just enjoy dinner, you will like to have this choice on where to spend your time. And even better, it never appeared to be crowded although there were a lot of people at this time of year.

The beach was just incredibly great. Clean, well managed and quiet (well, most of the time at least.

If you travel with kids, you will find that the entire resort is just perfectly build for you. The waiters as well as the management will do anything to make you and your kids feel comfortable.

We were not with kids and we never had an issue with that many kids around us which is not that usual in other hotels, I think.

Our room was rather high and the floor was made of stone which provided a rather good temperature inside. Furthermore, the air-conditioning could be controlled by remote control which I found rather useful.

The bad things: I would like to have a bigger bath, but hey, you're there to swim and enjoy the sea so that wasn't a big problem after all. We were shown two other room types (deluxe bungalow and two room suite). Both had much larger bathrooms so you might want to book one of those if you need a bigger bathroom.

TV: Well, the device itself is like 10 years old. The remote control would no longer have any signs on it so we had to figure out the function of each button - rather awkward, really. However, the two other room types I mentioned had new LCD flat screens. There are many European stations one could watch including the most popular ones (German speaking). CNN and BBC News as well.

The hotel was built in 1993 after 10 years of construction, we were told. You can imagine that some of the bathrooms would require a refresh, but as I've said, the rooms are really ok in general.

The guest we meat were from Switzerland, Germany, UK, Australia, Russia, Italy, France and the Netherlands.

We will go back, that is for sure!

As we always consult Trip Advisor before booking anywhere we decided it was time that we put something back in.
We can thoroughly reccommend the Kalimea Kriti village resort for service , quality of surrounding, quality of food and all over high standards of service.

The room (in a bungalow) was very spacious and kept very clean and tidy by housekeeping staff. Only slight niggle was that the sattelite TV was very German orientated with about 8 channels to English language's two - yes you've guessed CNN & BBC world !

The reastaurant offered a huge selection buffet style at both breakfast & dinner and the service of the waiting staff was both courteous and well organised by the three maitre d's who seemed to be there constantly.

The facilities were very good two large out door pools kept very clean - your own private beach and an indoor pool. Also a whole area devoted to small children which looked excellent fun. Squash, tennis, table tennis TV room, card room free internet access etc etc.

We would certainly say that the hotel offered very good value for money and is ideal for young families and older couples alike - but not not enough action for 18-30's

We hope this is of some use to anyone considering the hotel and of some comfort to anyone who has booked and seeks confirmation that they have made a good choice - relax you have !
