“Fantastic, what a dream holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2009

We just have returned from our holiday in Greece which we spent in this absolutely fabulous hotel.

If you are looking for an idyllic gateway, very friendly staff, excellent food & service in a perfect surrounding of beautiful gardens, crystal see - then do not go any further than Kalimera Kriti Hotel & Village resort.

Beach
Originally we planned to stay in Kalimera Kriti and rent a car and spend some time looking for nearby beaches, etc. But soon upon arrival we actually realized that the hotel beach is just perfect, we liked the quietness there and decided not to waste our time looking for other beaches. There are two sandy beaches but we preferred the smaller one (on the right side)

Service
Service is just perfect. Staff is incredibly kind but not as affectation, they are really warm and friendly. We met also the general manager (they organize every week cocktail with hotel management) and enjoyed in a relaxed chat with hotel employees.

Rooms
We booked a garden view bungalow. Of course it is better to book sea view rooms or sea front rooms, if you can afford. But, we liked our room. The rooms are very comfortable, clean, you will, that is for sure, have excellent view whatever room do you book, or on the perfectly maintained gardens or see.

Food
We booked a half board. Breakfast is served as a buffet and you can choose from a wide range of salads, fruits, cereals, meat, etc. The dinner is half as a buffet and you order the main course from the menu. They had different options for vegetarians, children menu, etc. We were very pleased with the food quality and choice.

Entertainment
We looked for a quite place and that is what we got. So, if you are looking for the crazy all-night long parties this hotel is not for you. But, even though the nights are quiet there is a program every night (open-air cinema, Greek night, piano bars, kids disco, etc).

We strongly recommend this hotel, especially for the couples and families.
One day we will be back, that is for sure!!!!
Good luck Kalimera Kriti.

Me and my family have been visiting kalimera kriti 10 times. In a coulpe of weeks its our eleventh time. The staff is amazing, they make you feel amazing and special. Because we have been there so many years now, everybody recognize us, and its so nice. We are always talked about as the "swedish hoff-family", because there are no other swedish visitors. And we have becomed friends with one of the chiefs that is one of the most amazing persons i have ever met. You always gets well taken care of in kalimera kriti, everything is ultrafresh, the food is AMAZING, the coctailpartys for us that have been there several times, everything you can do, sports, the beachboy that always is there at your service. You dont have to do one single hard work, all you have to do is relax and enjoy.

This is a lovely hotel and we had a great week here in the middle of June. I have put some details below so you can make an informed choice
The great:
-The hotel grounds are lovely with 2 big pools and 2 beaches, the beaches are both small but the sand and sea make up for this.
-The staff are really friendly and helpful and all speak reasonable English
-The food is very varied and tasty. The starter and dessert are buffet and the main course is a served meal. The starter and desserts do vary daily with some basics the same each night and others changing each night. Each night there is a choice of 3 mains (meat, fish or veggie). There is also a good choice of veggie starters and side dishes.
-The facilities are vast and seem to be mostly free which is different to the sister hotel in Elounda (eg gym, aerobics, table tennis, mini golf, tennis...)
-The prices in the hotel snack bars and bars are reasonable, it is a five start hotel so don’t expect cheap but you can get a nice lunch and drink for 10 Euro each, a bottle of wine for 20 Euro and a beer for 3 Euro.
-The location for us was great – you can walk across the rocks to Sissi (about 25 mins) or along the main road in about 15 minutes. There is no pavement for some of the way but it is lit at night. There are no other hotels really near but the hotel itself is more like a village than a hotel!
-The sea views are worth a little bit extra if you can afford it as the views from the main hotel rooms are lovely and you get a little more room than the garden rooms.
-The rooms are clean and well maintained. You get new towels each day and new beach towels every couple of days.

The not so great:
-There really are not many negatives I can think of however one thing to be aware of is that the rooms are quite basic (compared to other 5 star hotels) and in the rooms we had (3) none had an overhead shower although they all had a powerful attachment.

Overall this hotel is definitely recommended!

We liked the resort of Sissi – it is small and based around a harbour area, there are loads of restaurants (probably about 30 in the resort), quite a few bars and supermarkets. The resort seemed to be mostly couples and families.

I stayed in the Kalimera Kriti Hotel for one week at the end of May with my boyfriend. It was our first holiday together, and was slightly nervous about how it was going to turn out. After all you don't want problems on your first Hols together.
The hotel and resort were outstanding, beautiful, unspoiled and incredibly clean. All the staff worked very hard for what seemed around the clock and were very friendly, providing excellent service regardless of your age or nationality.
The food was absolutely amazing, and this is the first place I've been abroad where I could quite happily have eaten anything they had to offer. The selection was varied and plentiful.
It was the perfect place for a romantic getaway, and I've never relaxed so much. The weather was also brilliant, which seems to be the norm for that time of year.
The Kalimera Kriti is a hidden jewel and I would quite happily go back year after year. I've never said that about any holiday destination before. I really miss it now I'm back home.
Would happily recommend it to anyone.

If you adore a vacation where you have never the impression to be in a hotel but in your private village, with lovely gardens and lots of space to walk (it took us 45minutes to walk the whole resort), with 2 private beaches each in a bay and 4 swimming pools - this is your place to be. This resort is a sister of the most luxuary hotel in Crete (Elounda beach), but somehow prices are (much) more democratic while the location of Kalimera Kriti is far better and in my view really unmatched in Crete. Why hesitate - take a look a the hotel pictures and google earth and you will agree. Oohh - congratulations for the staff - they are all so kind - that makes your starying really top.

This was our 3rd trip to the kalimera Kriti and our 5th to Crete. The welcome was warm and friendly even at 2.00am in the morning..
The staff are friendly and polite, the views from the hotel to die for.
Nothing is too much trouble from the staff, from requests for a late meal to be available in the room, to a sun bed on the terrace.
The only down side and that would be for the staff not the customers is that it was very very quiet this year only 150 guest whilst we were staying they cater for 1500 in the peak season.
