“Showing age”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

We've stayed here for a number of years; the property is showing it's age. I realize the hotel can't help the neighborhood it's in (arguable, maybe...), but upgrading/updating this facility could be a good move. It's nearly across the street from Creighton/St. Joseph hospital, so it could be housing for families, a great source of business! Serving a morning continental breakfast would be a start. Having internet (wireless or wired) in the rooms would be a plus.

Room Tip: Stay on the back side, away from the interstate.

I stayed at this location 3 different times in a 2 week period for the College World Series. The exterior of this hotel does not speak for its rooms or its staff. The hotel looks a bit old and run down, but the rooms are adequate. The staff seems to be just working with what they have and trying to make the best of an old facility. They run a free shuttle to the stadium for the CWS (not sure if this shuttle runs all the time or just during CSW). The 2nd time we stayed at this location (about 5 days after our first stay) there had been a power outage and a problem with a third party booking site and the hotel was overbooked! We (along with many others) did not have a room! The staff was very kind and patient (especially when dealing with many irate customers). The hotel more than made up for the lost reservation. They directed us to new hotels and even paid for our first nights stay in the new location. But the service did not stop there............

Unfortunately, we had some car troubles - major car troubles. This is where the ABOVE & BEYOND customer service began. Randy Freeman, the hotel manager really went out of his way to help us. I called him initially just to see if he could use his contact at the hotel we were directed to when our reservations were cancelled to see if we could stay a few extra hours without having to pay extra. They would not allow it, but Mr. Randy said we could stay in a room at his hotel until our car was ready. He then drove the hotel shuttle to pick us up at our current hotel and took us to the car place. We thought we would be leaving town, but car could not be fixed. Mr. Randy then used his personal vehicle to pick us up from the car shop and took us back to his hotel. He set us up in a room for free and said we could stay as long as we needed! The next day he once again used his personal vehicle to give us a ride - on his day off!

When we were finally on our way home in a new car we had to purchase in Omaha 14 hours from home, Mr. Randy even called to check on us to make sure we had made it safely. He even helped a bit in the negotiating process of the car! Long review but the manager of this hotel made me a lifetime customer of any hotel he is managing. Thank you Randy Freeman.

Stayed there during the College World Series. Hard to believe, but motel had no towels. Their had been a storm, so that was the reasoning/excuse for why our key had to be reset each time the 2nd day we were there. That got old...quick. Did I mention the elevators not working? Yep, we were on the fifth floor. They got one working, but good luck being able to get on it. On the bright side, at least we got a room. There were several groups there with proof of their reservation(s) that the hotel had no record of....lastly, don't count on the shuttle. The 'Pick-Up Location' they gave us doesn't even exist. The street dead ends before it gets to the cross street where the supposed 'Pick-Up Location' was...

Room Tip: Stay on first floor in case elevator isn't working

Our room looked nothing like the pictures on web site. The blanket (no bed spread) was very old and worn, had a stain on it and we asked for it to be changed but when we got back at 1:00 a.m it had not been changed. Cieling in bathroom un painted. Large stain on couch. When we came in at 1:00 a.m there was a man at end of hall (about 3 rooms from us) sleeping in the hall. My husband tried to call front desk and let it ring 10 times and no one answered. Elevator was broke 2 times we tried to use it. This was not a $100 a room motel.

We needed a place to stay during the college World Series and due to booking late this was one of the only hotels left. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious with a comfortable king sized bad, nice shower and granite countertops. The staff was very friendly and willing to help with whatever we needed.
The hotel was very busy but every staff member we approached ( we didn't have towels in our room upon checkin) quickly helped us and apologized for the inconvenience.
Keep in mind this is a motel 6 and not the Hilton but I would stay here again and definitely recommend for the price and location.

Needed a relatively cheap room for one night at the College World Series on a few days' notice. Settled on this place because we wanted to be near downtown/the stadium and because it was about $50/night cheaper than even some further out places. Figured it couldn't be too bad because it used to be a Best Western, and it promised breakfast and shuttle to the stadium (I think these services were only offered for the CWS, so check first if you're coming at another time). Turned out the place was about what you'd expect if Motel 6 took over a Best Western. The room was decent but beginning to show signs of wear (one bed sheet was tattered, and the shower rod was a bit rickety) and lacked basics such as shampoo and tissues. Service was virtually nonexistent (we encountered multiple surly staff members and were initially sent to a room that was already occupied! We were given a new room but the guy at the desk never explained the mixup). Location was not truly downtown, but I expected that. The shuttle wasn't available when we needed it, so we walked instead (a bit of a hike at ~1.7 miles and not scenic but doable). Breakfast was limited (cereal, toast, warm juice/milk, coffee, packaged muffins, yogurt, rubber cement-like jelly, a few pieces of greenish/moldy fruit, etc.). Elevators were downright scary (wall paneling was badly battered/nicked, certificate said they hadn't been inspected in three years, they frequently made disconcerting noises and occasionally the doors didn't open at our destination floor until we pushed the "door open" button). One positive: I was randomly charged several dollars less than the online system had quoted. Maybe it was the universe's way of making up for the substandard experience? All in all, it was serviceable considering nothing horrible happened and we didn't break the bank, but if I had to do it over again, I think I'd book a slightly more reputable hotel elsewhere and simply pay to park near the stadium, which wouldve only cost $10, or take the bus (I learned after arrival that the city's transit system runs special CWS routes between the stadium and various outlying locations for a small fee).

Paid $80 for what felt like a $40 motel, Broken Ice Machine, Broken Bathroom doorknob,
Airconditioning would only cool to about 80. No shampoo, No Hot water heater, or other
extras. Positivies- Clean room and excellent shower.
