“Friendly Staff, great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

I stayed here for the first time this past week. I was pleasantly greeted by the hotel staff with cheery attitudes (every interaction with the staff was pleasant). The lobby is a little small, but has great granite and the large lounge attached is a nice touch. The room was nice and clean with multiple windows for some natural light. The bathroom was neat with the tiling and shower feature. This hotel is in a great location with a quick walk to many restaurants, bars and entertainment. When traveling to Omaha for business again, I'll make sure to check availability at Magnolia first!

I’m sorry. The Magnolia in Omaha is not amazing. We were there for two nights on our first visit to the city. I loved the location, so close to the Old Market, some nice shops, restaurants, theaters, the river front and a lively street scene on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
This is an impressive renovation of a vintage hotel. It’s a wonderful old building, and that gives it an extra Dot, in my book. The Courtyard is handsome, the bar seemed busy and the people very nice. What didn’t hold up for me were the guestrooms.
The first night, our room was unappealingly small and bland but since the hotel was sold out, we couldn’t switch. The next day we moved to what was termed the Jacuzzi Suite, with a fireplace. It turned out to be a larger bedroom with exactly the same bland furnishings plus a small fridge and microwave, which added nothing for us. The fireplace was attractive but simply a black hole with no fire-making fixture. And in a place with a humongous headboard, definitely meant for a king-sized bed was a queen bed. Very lame, in my opinion. And as it turned out, the mattress needed replacing. The bathrooms had some stylish features, but our first one had no bath towels. While my husband was in the shower, I SOS’d the front desk. (The towels came quickly, thank goodness.) Our second bathroom was larger with a huge spa tub/shower and plenty of towels. However, there was one little hook along with the ubiquitous card suggesting we hang our used towels to save the world. It’s my pet peeve that there are rarely enough hooks or towel bars to do that…in any hotel. This was worse than usual. I have also been spoiled with robes at most hotels of this caliber…and missed one here. Rule of thumb for me is, if you’re amenity-laden enough to have an ironing board, your hotel should offer a robe too.
A word about breakfast, which was okay. I appreciated the good oatmeal but would have loved some cut-up fruit. The healthy options were few. It was also odd that you could get cooked-to-order eggs for room service but not in the dining room. The selection of teas was poor, just Lipton’s.
This is one of the top-rated hotels in a major city. It’s possible that it’s the nicest one. If that’s the case, I think there’s an opportunity in Omaha for a more deluxe lodging option.

Room Tip: In the old section, ask for a courtyard-facing room. They're larger and the street view rooms on...

I stayed at the Magnolia for four nights in a king corner room. The room was very large with a small fridge, microwave and one cup coffee maker. The bed was a little too hard for me but I would think most people would enjoy it. The breakfast choices were excellent; the evening reception was nice; and, the cookies, especially the lemon cranberry shortbread, were great. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The car was brought around from valet parking very quickly and the fact that the shuttle was available for drop off and pick up from restaurants in the downtown area was really convenient. I only had one complaint and that was regarding the fact that written requests that I left for housekeeping one day were not fulfilled. Other than that small issue, I was very happy with my stay at the Magnolia and would recommend it to anyone staying in Omaha.

I really liked Omaha and that started with having this gorgeous hotel as my base.

The room is huge with super high ceilings as it was originally designed as an office building.

It has lovely decor and the work table had a beautiful aqua metal top.

The bed was superb, I prefer feather pillows, but these were fine.

The shower was good and the towels were fine. The toiletries were take homes.

The room has no fridge, microwave or iPod dock, however, it does have coffee and a fabulous free breakfast is included.

The WIFI was free, the parking was valet for a daily fee. You could take a chance on street parking, but it's all metered.

The public areas are gorgeous, you can sit and have a drink in the courtyard from the lobby bar.

There's a library, business centre and a good gym.

I spent two nights here and highly recommend this property.

I particularly love the historic charm and quiet elegance of this hotel. The rooms are pretty and provide modern luxury without sacrificing the architectural features. Beds are comfy, staff is wonderful and the the drivers are funny. We always enjoy the cocktail hour and this time, the breakfast was even better than usual. They have moved breakfast into the lounge area- really like the change. They always go out of their way to make sure that you have everything you need and are having a great experience, even when the hotel is extremely busy. My advice to anyone coming to Omaha is to bypass the hotel chains and experience the beauty and attentive service you will find at the Magnolia.

Had a great stay at this boutique hotel. Excellent service, very high food quality as well as nice complementary breakfast and cocktail hour , free wifi
2 blocks from old market.
The ONLY negative comment is that some rooms have this sliding barn door to the bathroom that is odd and difficult to use. This is not a pocket door but something that would hang on a barn. From a decor standpoint is doesn't match and from a function standpoint it is not an asset to this hotel. Tip: ask for a room with normal bathroom doors as they do have them. Otherwise, have a great stay. I hope they eventually replace these ridiculous doors.

Excellent service by front desk staff, happy hour in the lounge and milk and cookies at bedtime are a lovely treat! Within a few block walking distance to Old Market and free shuttle was easy to arrange for further travel. Would absolutely stay again!!
