Review of Hotel Deco
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 23, 2015via mobile
I booked this hotel based on TripAdvisor reviews. Me and my husband spent here one night to celebrate his birthday. Upon making my reservation over the phone, gentlemen taking it asked me if this was for any special occasion. We decided to surprise my hubby with a bottle of champaign that should wait for us in the room when we arrive. Front desk staff called me the day of our reservation to confirm the time of arrival to make sure champaign is chilled properly. When we arrived we were greeted with a smile and a friendly service. Interior of the hotel had a chic contemporary design, their lobby and a bar/ lounge area were also very stylish and comfortable. King suite had a good size and again, decor complemented the rest of already well designed hotel. Only thing I did not like was a view of the roof we had from our room. We had to have our curtains closed the whole time.
Overall, we really loved this hotel and a staff. I did not mind paying $199 for our suite and will definitely come back next time we go to Omaha. (Will have to request better view though...)

Had booked a room at Hyatt Place in Old Town and found they had overbooked. They comped me a room at Hotel Deco (way to go Hyatt Place...earning my loyalty even while kind of screwing me!), and it turned out great.

Super friendly staff, giant room, nicely appointed. What's not to like.

We stayed here one night and the staff was very accommodating. They have a Mercedes where they drop you off at dinner & pick you up. So nice we can enjoy dinner & have drinks and do not have to worry about a cab!!! They will pick and drop off up to a 3 mile radius. Room was clean and great service. We order room service to and our wine came up fast! Check out is at 11 which is great. Fast valet to and only $20! It's a nice hotel at an affordable price.

Hotel Deco has great bones: good location, impressive architecture, boutique vibe. But it badly needs freshening up to be a contender in the upmarket, independent hotel sector. Positives: contemporary room design, spacious, unique. Negatives: dingy everything (chipped paint, bathroom grout mold, plastic plants, etc.), water leaking in exercise room (itself unimpressive in terms of equipment), no free breakfast. My shower lacked a soap dish, so I had to put the shampoo bottle on the floor... c'mon, at $140 per night?! To the check-out clerk's credit, he did subtract 10% from my bill when I complained.

Stayed at Hotel Deco XV because we wanted to stay someplace unique. Hotel Deco definitely qualifies. The service was very good. Room was huge and well appointed. Location is adjacent to the Old Mill district. It is an older building so, even though we were on the 7th floor and our windows were not facing a street, ambulances and the like sounded as though they were in our room. Even with all of the high points of this hotel, the price is a bit high for the quality of the hotel and the market. The Magnolia is less money and just as nice. The Double Tree is not as unique, but has exceptional service, is just as close to the OM district and is much less expensive. Probably would not shell out the money again unless it was for a very specific reason.

Dear JodyMK,

Thank you for your detailed review. I appreciate your comments regarding your large and well appointed room, as well as the good service you received. Please accept my apologies for the noise. Because we are on the National Register of Historic Places, we cannot replace our historic windows. Should you return to Omaha, I would be happy to accommodate you in a room that doesn't face the street. Thank you for your business. We hope to see you soon.

I stayed here recently with a couple of friends. The hotel is very modern and chic inside but it's a vintage hotel...super cool concept. The room was huge and very clean. Beds were comfortable and the shower was awesome! The staff was all super friendly as well, we were even offered a complimentary ride to Walgreens when my sister asked if the hotel had contact solution. That is great customer service!!! The location is perfect. It is a quick walk to a lot of restaurants and shops. Will definitely stay here if I'm ever in Omaha again.
