Hotel Deco has great bones: good location, impressive architecture, boutique vibe. But it badly needs freshening up to be a contender in the upmarket, independent hotel sector. Positives: contemporary room design, spacious, unique. Negatives: dingy everything (chipped paint, bathroom grout mold, plastic plants, etc.), water leaking in exercise room (itself unimpressive in terms of equipment), no free breakfast. My shower lacked a soap dish, so I had to put the shampoo bottle on the floor... c'mon, at $140 per night?! To the check-out clerk's credit, he did subtract 10% from my bill when I complained.
