“Just ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

Went with a group of 32 and the service was very good and they were set up and ready for us. I have had Tapas before and it was much better.Had to ask for an item they forgot to serve and the hot food was not hot. It was just ok!

“Authentic Tapas, great Sangria”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

We planned this as visit as a bit of team building, and had a reservation on a week night for around 18 people. The restaurant was ready for us, and had a long table set up along the east wall.

This is real, authentic Spanish tapas folks, it isn't Denny's. You get the real experience here, with the seafood added in as well.

We tried so many dishes, and all of them were great. The Sangria is wonderful - if you are going with a reasonable sized party, you should buy it by the pitcher, rather than by the glass to save some money.

The tab for each person at the end of this with tip was around $50, which isn't bad given how much Sangria and food we went through.

I like this place a lot. Parking in the Benson area is tight, but there are parking lots north of the businesses that you can use. Keep an open mind and try the experience. You'll be glad you did it. If you get there early enough, you can go east on Maple and visit the Imaginarium, which is a few doors down to the east.

“Good food, OK overall”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

First of all: Make reservations, and ask for a table against the wall, not on top of the A/C or heater vent. I sat on the A/C vent which was blowing freezing cold air throughout the meal, which was quite unpleasant as it was right below my chair. Couldn't get another table as the place was full. If you sit at a middle table, you're bound to be bumped by the staff.
The food is very good and authentic. Great tapas selection and very good paella. However, be prepared to pay. The tapas portions are very small (2 empanadas or 2 scallops, or 6 asparragus -asparragi?) which is fine for tapas, but they are about $9 or $10 a piece. Dinner for 4 -no dessert- and a small sangria pitcher: $200. The sangria is tasty, but the pitcher was 50% ice, and before the tapas were gone, the drink was really watery; besides, it wasn't much like the stuff I have tasted before and was a bit of a disappointment.
On another occasion -similar experience- I had a table for 6 (3 adults and 3 kids), and was shocked that the amount on the check included 18% gratuity.
So overall, it's a nice outing, unique food -and tasty too-, the service was good and the staff friendly, but there were several little annoyances that made the experience less than great

“First time visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

This was our first visit to Espana. The food was excellent and an enjoyable atmosphere. My only complaint is that our waitress brought a young girl to the table to handle the wine. This girl was presented as almost a sommelier, which was unfortunate since she struggled with the cork and foil, it was a bit sad. Overall, I would definately go back.

“Good selection”

I ate there about 4 years ago and it was better then. I think the food is slipping. Good service.
