“Tasty, a little hard to find but worth it.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014 via mobile

I had heard good things about Shirley's for awhile. Finally stopped in for lunch and I am sorry that we didn't find our way there earlier. It is tucked away in a strip center near the amazing pizza machine, between a thrift store and a church. Once inside the building, it's 50's themed diner. We had lunch with chicken fried steak and hot beef sandwich. Both were delicious, hot, and very tasty. The place was busy and fast paced. The staff was super friendly. We will be back. Check it out.

“Great place for breakfast (and lunch)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

With the kids screaming and breakfast not even started I grabbed my wife and kids and took off for Shirley's one Saturday morning to use a groupon we had just gotten. Got there around 1000. It was very busy and we had to wait about 5 minutes for a table but that's it. It is a small area though so expect to get cozy with your neighbor when they are really busy. Ordered breakfast (my wife ordered lunch as she isn't a big breakfast fan, score one for Shirley's for having lunch available that early in the morning) and it arrived pretty darn quick for being that busy. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs. Chicken fried steak is what they are famous for, and it was really good! Wife had a grilled chicken sandwich that was also very good. Food was definitely homeade and came in large quantities! No one walked away even remotely hungry. Highly recommend Shirley's for some good home cooked food. We could go definitely go back again.

“First time to Shirley's”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

In town on business, and asked my counterparts for a taste of local Omaha. They took me to Shirleys, a small diner tucked away in a strip shopping center. Arrived at noon, it was pretty busy, but we were seated quickly. Elvis, Marilyn Monroe and everything 50's is the decor. The menu is simple with their favorites highlighted in yellow. I ordered the onion rings for an appetizer, big, thick and tasty, great way to start a meal. I had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, corn and a dinner roll. No complaints from me, good stuff, but wow, so much food for lunch. My co-workers had the special, meatloaf plate, huge portions and they loved it. Great food for the value, staff was great, can't wait to come back.

“Good eats”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

Great food but would recommend their breakfast menu as a favorite. Try and find something that includes either their biscuits and gravy with your meal and you'll leave with a happy (and full) stomach.
Only possible downside is it is a rather small location and can fill quickly.
Be in the lookout for the jovial Dave Weber while you're there!

“Still slow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

At least you can talk to Dave Weber while you wait.
The new tables are wobbly, why not fix them the first time.
Now you can pay at your table, which is better.
