I went looking for a steak in Omaha. I had heard about Cascio's from a few friends who weren't thrilled with it, but I wanted to give it a try.
The wife and I managed to come in while a Nebraska football game was in progress, so the place was fairly deserted, apart from a few folks sitting around the big screen.
We ordered up steaks - I took the fillet and she went with the Prime Rib - both were cooked properly. I had to salt and pepper my fillet, but it was okay without it.
The salad was pretty basic - lettuce, along with 1 black olive and 1 pepperocini pepper. Okay, it isn't the Chop Salad from Outback, but then again, this isn't Outback.
The potatoes were cooked properly, and worked wonders with the butter and sour creme to make for a delightful dinner.
Best of all, the wine wasn't a bank-breaker - we picked a bottle of Robert Mondavi Private Selection Cabernet, and it was $20.95. What is that - a buck a bottle markup?
If you are looking for a place that is "hoppin" or "stylin", well, this isn't your place. It is your father and grandfather's place.
If you are looking for a place where you can get a good steak, try this one out.
