“Will stay again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2010

Just a quick review of our stay at the Hilton in Omaha. First off, the three different taxes your charged are universal no matter where you stay in Omaha- don't blame the Hilton for the sticker shock of the extra expense. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly. Pay the extra few bucks to stay on the top floor with the executive lounge- for us it was worth the money not to have to wait in line or listen to screaming kids. The hotel is in a new area of Omaha and you get a great view of the Quest Center and new Stadium. You are close (walking distance) to Old Market or the hotel has a shuttle service. NO BIG complaints at all. We did not have a reservation, but called to make sure there were rooms available. We were told they had many open rooms. We arrived and the gal working the desk said they only had a smoking room left. We explained we just called and the gentleman on the phone said getting a room would be no problem. She looked at her computer again and said there were now rooms available. So it worked out. The Spa, pool and exercise room are very nice. If you have the desire for a massage just know the staff is not full time, they have people on rotation that they call in. Otherwise the massage service was very nice. The locker rooms and pool area were very clean- we were lucky enough to have the pool and whirlpool to ourselves. You notice alot of things while enjoying the whirlpool- there were a few lights burned out above the pool and inside the atrium area. Easy fix I am guessing when they get the time. This was a great property, we had alot of fun.

While there may be some newcomers on the horizon, this is still the king of the town. This was my third stay in as many years. Very nice hotel, and although it's downtown it's less than 10 min from the airport. Lobby is very large and well appointed. Lounge, Starbucks and 3-meal restaurant cover the basics.

Conceirge lounge was excellent and the host was perfect. Jason and Robert really seemed to be on top of things at the front desk. Room service was prompt and accurate. And while this newer hotel is getting old enough to merit renovation consideration, it is still a safe bet.

My only issue is the health club. This is the only hotel I have stayed at that charges ($10) a fee for entry. I might be able to get over that, but unfortunately I found the healthclub to be a dissapointment in terms of the quality and quantity of the equipment they had. This time I didn't ever use (in fairness, through the window it looked like it had been renovated). But, if that's an issue, we found a great run from the hotel out past the Gallup campus and along the river....and that was free.

Again, that's my only issue. I still highly recommend this hotel. And if you are going for the College World Series, the new stadium is being built across the parking lot. This hotel is supposed to have another 150 rooms by CWS 2011.

Very pretty hotel with terrific public areas and nicely turned out rooms. Big problem is that the front desk and bell stand is woefully understaffed at all hours. Fix this problem and this hotel gets all five dots from me.

We usually stay at its "sister" hotel the Hilton Garden Inn (which is 2 blocks away) while in Omaha, but we had tickets to a concert at the Qwest center so we chose the Hilton for this trip. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. We were upgraded to the Executive floor which had nice snacks and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the day and a decent breakfast. It is a short walk from the Old Market district and has a shuttle service (which came in handy during a rainstorm). For future trips, we will probably return to the Hilton Garden Inn because it is closer to the Old Market but, in the future, for concerts at the QWest we could stay at the Hilton again.

From the moment the shuttle picked me up at Eppley Field I had nothing but excellent experiences. I arrived at 11:00 am, yet an upgraded Executive Floor room was ready and waiting due to HHonors Gold status, and on departure day, a late checkout was as easy as a simple request.

The Executive Floor Lounge was recently renovated, and unlike some Hiltons, it is open all day, even on weekends. This property does not offer complimentary alcohol, but the breakfast is of very good quality, the ladies in the lounge are very gracious, and snacks and beverages are available throughout the day. In the evening, the hors d'ouvres were jumbo shrimp and ravioli and sufficient for a light dinner and I understand they do vary the evening offerings across the week. 3 computers with internet service are also available on a complimentary basis in the lounge.

I considered the room to be large and the furnishings of a higher quality than many Hiltons. The room was absolutely immaculate and while some reviewers mention wear in the rooms, I only noticed a bit of wear in the pile of the carpet, but otherwise nothing else.

My understanding is that the entire hotel will be renovated and expanded soon, and I salute properties that renovate before rooms get long in the tooth, because that isn't a given in today's economy.

Though I received complimentary Executive Floor, it was only $35 additional on the dates I was there, which makes it a bargain for the enhanced service, food offerings, and beverages and bottled waters across the day.

One note....if you are a light sleeper, it would be wise to request a room at the end of the hall, as the doors do not have sound-proof cushioning materials, which means they slam loudly unless people have the courtesy and manners to close them quietly....and unfortunately many people don't.

Shuttles can take you to the zoo and Old Market, so a car isn't needed, and most places are an easy walk, especially in pleasant weather. I particularly enjoyed the new pedestrian bridge across the Missouri River, the Saturday Farmer's Market, and the Durham Museum in the city's restored art-deco train station.

The hotel itself was very nice but the cost is just over the top - there are 3 seperate taxes added each day to your room charge so be prepared to add about $30 a day in taxes to the cost of your room. Add in $9.95 a day for basic wireless internet service and $8 a day for parking and I think you'll find equally nice and downtown accessible accomodations for a better value at another downtown hotel (there are plenty). And by all means do not use the mini-bar, unless a $4 Kit Kat is in your budget. Omaha is a fun town and we had a great time there.

I recently stayed in this hotel for three nights and found it to be great for anyone in the downtown area or going to the Convention Center. It is in walking distance to most destinations in downtown and if you don't want to walk, one of their shuttles will drive you. It is an easy walk to Old Town for great restaurants. The rooms are very nice and for only a few dollars more, often you can be upgraded to their concierge floor and have a nice continental breakfast, snacks all day and light appetizers in the evening. It is well worth the money. I would recommend this hotel for anyone going to Omaha as it is also just a short ride to the airport.
