Spent a whole day there and didn't see everything. This is a must see for anyone who likes Zoo's and those who don't. I've been to many Zoo's and this is the best! In many ways equal or better than San Diego.

I have been to Zoos in Tulsa OK,Oklahoma City OK,Kansas City MO,Topeka KS,Virgina Beach VA, and San Diego CA twice. The Omaha Zoo was the best by far. The Rainforest and the Aquarium were awesome. My wife and I went with another couple and we spent the entire day and still didn't see everything. We plan to go back in 2004 when the Great Ape area is complete with my grown children. The nightlife in downtown is great with people walking from shops and clubs. Street preformers, sidewalk cafes, friendly natives, and a visible police presents made it feel safe, fun, and a real good time.
it was so amazing to see the omaha henry doorly zoo. that was the best zoo i have ever been too! it was 100 times better than than the north carolina zoo! i loved everything about it!!
I go back to Omaha every year to visit the folks, and I never miss the opportunity to get to the Henry Doorly Zoo. And, every year, it has something new and incredible to offer. Last year it was the world's largest indoor desert under the world's largest glazed geodesic dome. This year (in April, which I am about to see) is the world's largest indoor swamp located in the world's largest nocturnal animal exhibit ("Kingdoms of the Night"). It already boasted the world's largest indoor rain forest (the Lied Jungle -- a spectacular building!), the world's second-largest free-flight aviary, the world's largest cat complex (featuring virtually every large feline in existence), the largest saltwater aquarium between Chicago and San Francisco (including a walk-through tunnel where the sharks circle overhead), a wonderful underwater/overwater Polar Bear exhibit, and so much more that it beggars description. And next year, 2004, they promise a new walk-through Gorilla Valley exhibit where the gorillas roam free while humans view them from a glass-enclosed walkway. You've got to see this place to believe it. I've been to the L.A. and San Diego zoos many times (I live in Southern California), but nothing compares to the Henry Doorly Zoo.
