“Not The Usual Tex Mex”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014 via mobile

We were in Omaha recently on a house hunting trip. We passed Riveras and our realtor mentioned that it was good. We decided to try it. We had a great meal. The food was not your usual Tex Mex but was very creative and delicious. My only minor gripe was that usually where we are from (Dallas) they keep the chips flowing. Here you got one basket and if you wanted more you had to pay. Maybe it keeps the cost down. We don't need to be eating all those chips anyway! We will definitely eat here again when we become Omaha residents.

“Very Good Mexican”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

My husband and I have been to Rivera's on multiple occasions and always have had a great experience. The margaritas are always delicious and the food is excellent. They don't take reservations so expect a bit of a wait depending on the day of the week. The atmosphere is great too. It will be worth the wait.

“When you want authentic Mexican food - it's here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

We love Mexican food, but most of the Omaha Mexican joints are very Americanized (unless they are located in south Omaha, and thus not handy geographically). Jesus and Tracey run a wonderful family restaurant, and I have eaten here many times - never been disappointed. The only downside? It's NOISY and crowded. We often get take out so that we can enjoy the great food but without the attendant hassle.

“Best Mexican in Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2014

Rivera's has some of the best Mexican food in town. Get there early for lunch or dinner, because there is often a long wait. At night, there can be a long line outside, which is a great tribute to the food. Prices are very affordable. I am not sure how they do it, but they have the best tasting beans I have ever had at any restaurant. Many unique dishes and all the old standards. Everything here has a unique twist. I appreciate the more authentic flavors instead of just putting a pound of cheese over eveything. Have great seafood options and vegetarian options. Service is always very quick. Margaritas are excellent too. Very family and kid friendly place to eat. It is a small space, but they do get people in and out quickly. Some of the best enchiladas, mole and fajitas in town.

“Good Place, Long Wait”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2014

We stopped to get a bite to eat on our way out of town last week, and ended up stopping by Rivera's after seeing it had good reviews. We arrived about 5:30 p.m. on a Saturday night. The wait was about 20-25 minutes. Other people arrived, put their name in, and subsequently took their name off of the wait list and left. It's not a huge restaurant by any means. The tables are fairly close to one another, and it is very loud. They have a small bar area also. With that being said, the food was quite good. The chips were served warm with salsa that was not a traditional red in color, but rather orange--maybe made with habaneros? It was very good! My son had carne asada, and he said (although I think he was very hungry) that it was the best steak he had ever had. I had to agree it was quite good. I had the chicken suiza enchiladas, and they were also quite good. The chicken was absolutely perfect. Absolutely no complaints as far as the food goes. It was great!! We would definitely go there again!
