“Provence Hospitality at its best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013 via mobile

Provence is magical from hillside villages, roman ruins, medieval buildings and people that are used to an influx of tourists, French and international. This 11th century monastery was our sanctuary, supported by new wonderful hosts Hugo and Chantelle, with old world character and modern facilities. The pool was the first port of call after a hot day wandering, a cold beer from the nearby fridge (paid on honesty system) and a catch up on the wifi to all our friends and family overseas.
Friday and Saturday was the BBQ and Michelin star chefs meal.
Breakfast was hearty and shared with all guests, who exchanged visit tips and local pointers, an occasional joke and lengthy discussion also took place under the grapevines in the old world courtyard. Lunch and dinner options are your own choice, and despite little opportunity to taste the local fair Chantelle could book the most beautiful fair at a local restaurant nearby.
In summary our international visit to Provence was made wonderful by the sanctuary provided by Hugo and Chantelle, their wonderful facility and perfect location on Vaucluse near major Provençal attractions.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

In 2011, we stayed at Les Carmes for 7 days and were amazed that there really existed a place like you see in so many advertisements about the Provence (lovely, peaceful setting, rural surroundings, a historic, yet astonishingly renovated b&b with a beautiful French garden, vines surrounding the terrace, swimmingpool, etc.). We normally don't go twice to the same place, but Les Carmes had enchanted us so much, that we decided to go back.

Just the evening before our departure, we read on tripadvisor that Mike & Ann had left and we felt a bit uncomfortable. How could they leave a place so beautiful, in which they've put their heart & soul, just like that? And above all, our main concern was: will the new proprietors be equally gentle and helpful?

As the review beneath ours has already stated, the minute we arrived at les Carmes and were greated by Chantal, the new hostess, our concerns disappeared. Hugo & Chantal welcomed us with a heartwarming smile and really did everything to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. They are 2 people who started this business with their heart & their soul and you can feel that every second you see them. Not the "keeping up appearances" you see in other hotels, but truly caring people who wanted to change their lifestyles completely and do something more practical and to let people feel at home. We felt like part of the family and couldn't say enough nice things about them.

For the rest Les Carmes is as enchanting as ever, a true gem. Thank you so much, Chantal and Hugo, for being such a lovely couple and for making our stay truly magical. We miss you already and look forward to see you back next year!

All the best

Tim and Elien
