“Terrific historic hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

Located centrally in Boulder City, this small but historic hotel is a very nice place to be. Mostly older clientele but the staff treats everyone like they are individuals. This is a small town example of the way hotels used to be. The breakfast in the morning is included and is very nice. Parking is ample and the hotel is within easy walking distance of local shops. It is a mere 30 minute by freeway from Las Vegas airport.

We had standard room 204 located one floor above the hotel's museum. The rooms are updated from the original style when the hotel was built in the 1930's. On request they put a fridge in the room. There is a fan but an excellent heating system since it can get quite chilly there. The bathroom has old style tile, a nice shower. The hot water in the sink takes a while to reach proper temperature but there is no issue with shower water temperature. The bed is a queen and for two people may be slightly smaller than you would like. But it is basically comfortable. There is a small flat screen wall mounted TV.

The room is carpeted with a small desk and three stools---no real chairs to sit in perhaps reminiscent of the way hotels were furnished 70+ years ago. One negative feature: the bathroom light, when turned on simultaneously turns on a very noisy fan. There is an elevator in the hotel and a community PC which seems to work OK but is a bit tricky to figure out. There is free wifi also. You can hear noise from the outside and in the hall but normally this is not a problem.

I highly recommend this hotel.

Old style hotel, old style charm. Breakfasts are basic but good. Museum downstairs is worth the visit. Close to eateries in Boulder City and a short drive to Hoover Dam. Make a trip out to the Nevada State Railway Museum and the Coffee cup in Boulder City.

We needed to be in Las Vegas for business but didn't want to stay there. Just 30 minutes away in a neat as a pin city is this lovely historic hotel. Clean, well-maintained, and in the middle of a very walkable downtown. All the staff at the hotel and nearby shops and restaurants were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast (included) was cooked to order with care and the servers were very attentive. Even the other guests were cheery having received the Boulder City treatment. Boulder Dam Hotel is everything it is advertised to be and to top it all off is very affordable.

Room Tip: Because the hotel is located in a quiet town - there really didn't seem to be one room that woul...

Stayed there overnight on a visit to the hoover dam, rooms were lovely price very reasonable and they have an interesting museum inside free to guests. The hotel looks more like a rich persons house than a hotel. We had some food that they let us keep in their fridge and when we were leaving my wife wanted to purchase a bottle of water which was given free to her.The hotel is situated in a quiet neighbourhood only 7 miles from the dam, would definitely stay here again.

After returning from south rim of Grand Canyon we visited the Hoover Dam. Since our flight home from Vegas was next day, I decided our last night hotel stay shouldn't be in Vegas. Had spent 3 nights in Vegas prior to driving to South Rim. Boulder City is only 30 minutes from McCarran airport. What a wonderful small town atmosphere and we were all pleased with my choice.

On a trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon we stayed at the Historic Boulder Dam Hotel so that we could visit the Dam in the morning. The rooms were large, clean and more than accomodating. It is within walking distance to a couple of restaurants/bars. The town was quiet and relaxing in the evening. We would definately go back.

This is a fantastic place to stay if you are a history buff. The people are personal and see to it that you are having a nice time. The rooms are decorated to reflect the historic time period. Fantastic! And when was the last time you actually opened a hotel door with a real key! (not a key card) Don't expect your run of the mill hotels (like holiday inn express or comfort inn) that is not this hotel. This is a historic hotel in a very nice area, close to the Hoover Dam. Wish there were better eateries in and around the Hotel. But the Hotel restaurant for breakfast was great. Service was terrific and it was nice to see families out enjoying their comunity in the evenings. I loved it!

Room Tip: We loved the king suite. It is apartment style and has a full size kitchen. If you love to cook, bri...
