I'd have to say I've had some really good sandwiches here over the the years and even a couple of salads which I'd come back for. It's just so unfortunate that the overall experience simply evokes the word average from my food brain. First, my experiences have been consistently, inconsistent here, from the service to the food. While the service is mostly, "chilly", unless you're a regular here who they know, I've also had good servers who were friendly. The menu's good if you're looking for a salad or a bowl of soup and a sandwich. I think the sides that come with the sandwiches are so poor and the potato salad is the worst of the bunch, except a close second would be the purple cabbage slaw. The potato salad tastes like it's right out of a plastic container purchased at your local grocery store two weeks ago. Had the cabbage one day and it was good then the next visit I ordered it telling my dining mate that it was good, too, and it was just inedible from someone putting so much dried oregano into it that it was overpowering and we both asked for chips instead. This was a day where we had one of the the ice princess waitresses who acted as if we were bothering her when we flagged her down from her conversation with a fellow at the bar after 20 minutes. When I told her why the salad was inedible she shrugged and was totally uninterested. Then to add insult to injury she came out of the kitchen with a plate of some dessert that was just made and gave samples to the diners at the bar and at the other table inside but didn't even look our way. It's cool to bring samples out but not cool in such a small space to ignore patrons exist at one of your two tables. Back to the potato salad, better to only serve taro chips and get rid of the plastic potato salad and inconsistent purple cabbage salad altogether. Such an easy task to produce a freshly prepared simple couple of side salads in that accommodatingly large kitchen, so why serve bad ones? Also, great entree salads deserve flavorful, freshly made dressing, too, yucky ranch tasted right out of a bottle. Do try their fresh baked goods, they're pricey but excellent.
