“THE place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2011

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of September in the Autour du Monde room and absolutely loved this bed and breakfast. Everything about the Bastide was perfect. Where do I begin....

The house itself is an architectural masterpiece--situated in the mountains 20 minutes north of Nice and Antibes by car, this ancient villa was completely rehabbed with modern amenities and finishings, while still maintaining a rustic feel yet very luxurious at the same time. It was magnificent! The views from every part of the property and especially our room, were amazing. It was probably one of the most relaxing and picturesque places we've ever been.
The place was sparkling clean. The owners Danielle and Lulu were so kind, helpful and always willing to offer ideas and recommendations of what to do in the area. They were excellent hosts and genuinely very kind people.

Breakfast on the terrace was beautiful and very peaceful , again with the most amazing views--surrounded by hills of olive trees and views of beautiful St Paul de Vence. After five days in Paris, the peace, quiet and tranquility of the Bastide was much needed. Because of how quiet and peaceful it was at night--it was the best night's sleep ever! We loved this place so much that we were sad to leave. However, we will definitely be back!

I would recommend this as the perfect place to anyone with a car who is willing to drive around the area--staying a bit inland in a mountainous and picturesque area not too far from Nice and Antibes.

We stayed here for 3 nights in the Peau D'Ane room which has a spectacular view of St. Paul de Vence. The room was beautiful, huge (by European standards and large even by American standards), and spotless. The bathroom is especially fantastic- there is a 2 person shower, soaking tub, large sink, and the toilet is in a separate cubicle. This is really the Provence B&B that everyone dreams about - a gorgeous old stone building that has been beautifully renovated and decorated. The pool area and garden are lovely, to have a drink or just hang out. The hosts Daniel and Lulu are such gracious and genuine hosts, really eager to please and pleasant. Continental breakfast was good and included lots of things - croissants, fruit, coffee/tea, cake, bread. This really was a wonderful place to spend our vacation, 5 star accomodations with reasonable prices. Thank you Daniel and Lulu!

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in the Colombier room which has to be seen to be believed, wow! The owners Daniel and Lulu were so friendly and could not have been more hospitable. The place was spotlessly clean, our room was huge and beautifully furnished, breakfast was lovely and the gardens were wonderful. Couldn’t fault the Bastide Fleur De Pierre in any way.

My husband and I just returned from a 4 day stay at Bastide Fleur De Pierre and we had the most perfect time. Daniel and Lulu the owners are wonderful; very friendly and helpful with answering any questions about the area. We stayed in the Colombier room and we loved it! It was the perfect setting for our honeymoon. We will most definitely return one day. Daniel is the best host and so accommodating to talk about the area. Thank you Daniel and Lulu!

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful with all the accommodations.

We travel on a tight budget, less than 150/night, so are unfamiliar with accommodation costing 300 plus Pounds/Euros/Dollars per night. I think this is such a place! In other words, the exceptional quality of everything is worth twice the price.
The building is ancient, but has been very recently modernized on the inside. Our room (Peau D'Anne) was perfectly decorated, with an unobstructed view across to the walled, ancient hill-top town of St Paul - perfect! The bed was king-size and comfy; the bathroom big and well-designed and a nice breakfast was served on the patio overlooking St Paul - again, perfect. Cleanliness was sparkling! Silence was total! Bedroom air-conditioning new, silent, and efficient. Parking was secure and convenient - 6 parking spots in the beautiful, private walled gardens, for only 5 guest rooms! You do need to be travelling by car, in my opinion, to use this as a base for exploring the Cote d’Azur and the fascinating hilly region 15km inland. Our host and hostess have poured their lives into every renovated stone of the place, and are keen to please! Get them to show you the before-and-after photos of the renovation.
Only Castello di Razzano between Turin and Milan, at around the same price, comes close to the perfection of this place.
To reiterate, this standard of excellence must exist all over Europe, but rarely at this giveaway price. You will not want to leave, and when you move on to your next accommodation, unless it costs double, you will be disappointed!

We stayed here for 5 nights and had a wonderful time. The room (the smallest one called 'autour du monde') was great: spotlessly clean, high-quality furnishings, king size comfortable bed and an amazing bathroom. The outside area was great as well - we had breakfast in an outside dining area, and the pool and gardens were lovely.

The owners, Lulu and Daniel, create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, which in turn means the guests interact far more than we have experienced at hotels. We shared recommendations, travel tips, general conversation and food/wine with the other guests - though we certainly didn't feel obliged to socialise when we didn't want to and so none of this friendliness ever felt intrusive.

The location is fantastic: only 15 mins drive from Nice airport, overlooking the beautiful st paul de vence and close to the centre of la colle sur loup itself. Also, parking at the guesthouse is very convenient.

An all round wonderful place from which to explore the surrounding area.

Lulu and Daniel were truly fantastic hosts, always ready to attend to our needs!

The location is superb with a fantastic sighting of St. Paul village and the B&B itself is renovated with the highest care for comfort and technology, still keeping the look and feel of the original building intact.

Shortly said, this was a very nice place to be!
