“Very nice place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

Reality is better than pictures! Anne and Patrick are very warm and we immediatelly felt as home! Breakfast, served in the garden, is abundant, various and genuine.
Room was very lovely and, even if the air conditioning was not working, it was possible to sleep well simply opening the window! Bath room not so big but the shower is simply great! The garden is pretty and the little pool is very useful especially in July....
Last words are for the strategic location! Very close to St. Paul and highway on the cost!
At the end, we suggest this very nice place!

La Forge is a hidden haven, on a little street in the lovely village of La Colle Sur Loup. There is a garden with a small pool and plenty of space to sit and enjoy the end of the day with an aperitif. Anne was a very welcoming, friendly and helpful host, who organised restaurant bookings and served a great breakfast - fresh pastries and bread, home-made jams, locally sourced cheese...

We had two rooms - one with a great view over St Paul de Vence, with a large bathroom (huge tub!. The other had a great little terrace overlooking the pool. Both rooms were airy, light, very clean and thoughtfully decorated. Air-con also. Please note that our rooms were at the top of quite steep stairs - though not a problem at all for us.

We visited the local area but chose to eat in La Colle as St Paul de Vence, whilst very pretty, is very tourist heavy. La Vie est Belle was fantastic, as was the place on the way into the village centre opposite the tabac / cafe (forgotten the name).

A 15 minute drive from Nice airport, La Forge is a perfect, relaxed place to spend a few days. We will be back!

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful guesthouse after coming across it on the Alistair Sawday website. Situated in the small village of La Colle sur Loup it is perfectly situated for close by trips to Antibes, St Paul de Vence and Cannes. The house itself is beautifully done up with lovely calming colours and antique furniture. We stayed in the suits Bois D'Amourette which was absolutely beautiful and had a lovely wee balcony which you could enjoy the sunshine from until around 7.30pm. Breakfast was served in the garden during our stay and you sit wth the owners of the gueshouse and other guests, which was really interesting and quite a different experience. The owner of the guesthouse Anne is absolutely charming and couldn't have been more welcoming. All in all a fab place to stay.

I've spent a few weekends in this charming "Maison d'Hôte" in the small village of La Colle sur Loup, ideally located in the hills above the French Riviera.
In the summer enjoy the garden and small pool and the fire place on colder days.
The rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable.
A lovely atmosphere complemented by a charming hostess, Anne, who also prepares a fantastic breakfast with local products.
For a relaxing moment.. look no further.

Room Tip: The one with the nice big bath tub and balcony overlooking the garden.

La Colle keeps the charm of Provence with its fountains, its old squares and its "Art de vivre" but it has something more... The hills, the views on Saint-Paul de Vence, the quality of the greenery... Definitely something of Tuscany. But when you meet Anne, our hostess at La Forge, you know that you are in France: her elegance, her knowledge in cuisine and "Art de la table", even her way of preparing a guest bedroom is quintessentially French.
A place not to be missed if you wish to know what French Riviera means!

We stayed at the guesthouse in May in the top room decorated with rustic but chic furnishings and with fantastic views of the hills. They had a great big communal dining area for breakfast which the hosts join in the morning serving great home made jams, breads and cheese! Perfect B&B in a lovely small hill town not too far from the airport! Oh and I forgot to give Anne the keys but she kindly picked it up from our next hotel location in Nice - great service!

I had a lovely stay at La Forge in October. The location is ideal for visiting the village as the location is just a few minutes walk to the center of the village. The hosts are welcoming and inviting and showed me around the premises and assured me I could lounge and use these rooms as a guest. The room was charming and tastefully furnished with antiques and
beautiful linens....a very comfortable bed, which is very important to me! Even though I was the only guest for the evening, I was greeted in the morning with a delicious breakfast of granola, yogurt, bread, cheese, homemade jams, cakes, etc. The hosts joined me for breakfast and it was so nice for them to share this meal with me, as the lone guest. I would highly recommend La Forge if you plan to stay in this area of Provence and hope to return in the future for a longer stay!
