“WORST. HOTEL. EVER.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2014

My girlfriend and I were attending the metal festival, Hellfest, down the road in Clisson and we found the Premiere Classe which looked like a decent, cheap chain motel. How wrong we were!

I had timed our arrival to make sure we spoke to a human rather than the post 9pm auto check in (having read the reviews saying it was a bit dodgy) and that was fine. We dumped our bags and went out to get some food, returning after 9pm.

At first glance the room looked basic but serviceable. The toilet was clean, the beds were made and there was a pretty flash Samsung TV on the wall. As the England game was on TV, we sat eating our food, drinking some local plonk and both reassured each other that the room's "not that bad" etc.

However, as the night progressed we both started to get an itchy feeling and the room's lack of air-con started to make it a bit hot and sweaty. It was only then that we noticed the horde of fly/mosquito/bugs all around the top of the walls! The more we looked the more we found and when I chanced upon a large spiders web (replete with 2 spiders on patrol!) I was almost glad that we had some support in the war against the bugs!

When we took the duvet covers off the bed we found old linen - mine had some dubious stains and my girlfriend's smelt of beer and sweat. Delightful.

By the end of the football it was coming up for midnight and we'd had some wine so there was no prospect of moving hotels then and there (although it was discussed, along with sleeping in the car!) so we got into our little single beds and toughed it out till 7am when the staff returned and then got out of the room ASAP!

To be fair to the staff, when we came down to complain about the room they were quite apologetic and when I said I wanted to cancel the final 2 nights of our stay (we'd already booked somewhere much nicer in Ile De Nantes) they refunded me around €100 of the €160 we paid without much fuss and when I came back down to return the keycards the receptionist repeatedly apologised, which was nice, I guess.

Before we left, we had to get showered etc (new hotel didn't check in till 3pm), so we ventured into the shower cubicle/toilet. The shower itself was powerful and hot, but the room itself was very cramped and steamy - kinda like having a shower in an airplane WC. That wasn't too bad, although the 3 pathetic little towels weren't great, especially when you had to get out of the bathroom to get dry, dripping all over the dubiously clean laminate flooring.

There was no hairdryer (or other toiletries), but more bizarre was the lack of plug sockets. The tv was in one and there was one by the bathroom door but that was it. Luckily we had brought a double EU-UK plug adapter... but for a three person room having a single empty plug socket seems slightly under-resourced.

In the end, if the room had been cool and clean then we probably would have stayed because we were only going to be in it from about 2am-11am but it was that bad that one night was more than enough. This was a real eye-opener that hotels like this still exist - so for anyone going to Hellfest 2015 and thinking about staying here just don't! Spend the extra few € and minutes driving from Nantes or even get into the Campanile... this was just the worst experience we've had in a hotel. Avoid.

Automatic booking after 9pm did not work with reservation number, so we had to wait for someone to arrive at the hotel. Arriving into the room, it was very cold. The bed sheets had to be changed as they were dirty.
I had to sleep in my coat all night as the heater did not work in the "bedroom"
The shower in the bathroom (if you can call it a bathroom, no bigger than my shoe cupboard) sprayed one stream of water, which in turn soaked the rest of the bathroom, making the floor very slippy.
One compliment during the stay was the warm welcome offered by "Sandra" at breakfast time.
Only stay here if there is NO WHERE ELSE to stay.
The rooms are in desparate need of being updated/refreshed.
