This hotel was solid. We stayed there on each end of an 11 day trip. They had a freezer where we could keep our fish for free. That was nice. They also had an airport shuttle that had a flexible schedule for our early flight. The rooms were clean and the staff friendly. The hotel wasn't cheap for what ou got and there were no views, but I'd stay here again.

We stayed here one night at the end of August 2012 after arriving in Anchorage. We took the shuttle from the airport to the hotel. The shuttle was quick in arriving to pick us up. We didn't realize how close the hotel was to the airport on this trip as we had two other gentlemen on the shuttle who were dropped off at a different hotel. No big deal as the trip still only took about 15 minutes. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. We were upgraded to the Chugach Suite when we arrived. The suite itself was nice, very big, with a small kitchen area, fireplace, couch (sitting area) and a conference table. Only complaint (and not really much to compain about) was the bed. It was a murphy bed, so when it was open, it was very low to the floor and made you feel like you were sleeping on the floor. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was one of the best that we've had at a HIE. All in all, it was a very good stay and I would recommend it.

My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Anchorage for one night when we arrived in Alaska. I wanted a hotel close to the airport since our flight was supposed to get in at midnight. Our flight ended up being delayed so we didn't get to the hotel until 2:30am. It was a super quick drive from the airport and easy to find. Parking is a little strange as you're inclined to turn right into the lot in front of the hotel. However, this lot is small and dead ends so if it's full (as it was when we arrived) you will have to reverse to get out of it, which can be a little awkward. Fortunately there is plenty of parking in the back of the hotel. The woman at the check-in desk was super friendly (didn't catch her name) and offered us a late check-out multiple times since we arrived so late.

The room was clean and everything functioned as it should. We didn't use the fridge but it's always nice to have one. The free wifi was quick and we had no problems connecting. Breakfast is the typical Holiday Inn Express experience with lots of variety - cereal, biscuits, sausage, pancakes, eggs, yogurt, muffins, fruit, juice and the always-delicious cinnamon buns.

A few days later, we were passing back through Anchorage and needed access to a phone. We had been in a minor car accident earlier in the day and needed to make some calls but our cell phone reception was spotty where the accident occurred (near Denali). We decided to head in the direction of the HIE since we had been able to get reception in that area earlier in the week. We still didn't have reception so we went inside to see if there was a phone we could use. Jonah at the front desk was really helpful and let us use a phone to make the calls we needed. I would definitely stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Anchorage again, especially before or after a flight. The location near the airport is so convenient and the staff is wonderful.

Because of a freak hurricane strength wind storm the night before my arrival, the property was without power and/or hot water. They quickly made arrangements for me at a downtown property at the same rate and made arrangements for transportation by taxi. I came back for my second night and was quickly checked in. Staff was friendly, helpful, calm and professional during a crises with lots of customers needing assistance. Very impressed. My room was spacious, sparkling clean and even had a ceiling fan ( I've never seen a ceiling fan in a hotel room in the states and usually have 275+ hotel nights a year). Fridge and microwave are always a welcome sight and appreciated amenities. Very comfy bed and quiet room. Breakfast is great. I'll definitely book at this location in the future. Again, very impressed with the staff and the property. PS Capris pizza next door is awesome!
