Stayed one night before very early return flight to the East Coast. I picked this hotel because of it's proximity to the airport and because of previous positive experiences at Super 8 locations. Very nice and helpful front desk staff. Ground floor non-smoking room wasn't as clean as we would have liked but it was OK and the beds were comfortable. Free wireless and coffee maker, no refrigerator.

My husband made the unfortunate decision to wash some clothes before we returned home. Make sure you have LOTS of quarters.... $1.75 for a wash, $1.25 for a dry cycle. He needed three (!) dry cycles before the clothes were close to being dry.

Takes about 10 minutes to get to the airport by their shuttle which runs every half hour. If we had an early morning flight we would stay here again. Otherwise, we'd look for another hotel.

I stayed there four nights on a business trip. The room was in good condition and was clean and acceptable with no objectionable odors. I never felt unsafe at the motel and I could always find a parking spot near the entrance. The free breakfast is typical for a low priced motel (muffins, bagels, cereal and juice/coffee/tea). It's the same every day so I grew tired of it after a couple of days. If you want a better breakfast there is a 24 hour restaurant (Village Inn) a little over a mile away on Spenard Road. There are several other eateries within a mile also. The motel is about 3 miles from the airport and has a free airport shuttle that I did not use as I had a car.

My non-smoking room had a king sized bed with a desk, table and wardrobe/TV stand. The decor was simple but functional and in good condition. My room had free wireless internet that worked well and a nice TV with front panel jacks to connect a game console or DVD player. Local calls are free. There is no in-room refrigerator or microwave but there is a microwave in the breakfast room with 24 hour coffee/tea. There is no free newspaper but there is a newspaper vending machine in front of the building. There is no pool or exercise room. The room had a key lock safe for your valuables for which they add $1.50 per day to your bill, but will remove it if you ask them to. I asked for a quiet room on an upper floor and they accomodated my request. Hotel staff were courteous. I would be willing to stay here again on a future trip.

  • Liked — Moderately priced clean room with free internet access
  • Disliked — Little variety in the free breakfast

Arrived after standing for 45 minutes at the railway station (11 pm & yes, it was raining hard) waiting for the courtesy bus - "which will be just 15 mins." Gave up, took a taxi ($15 with tip). Initial reaction of clerk "Not sure if we have a clean room!!" We had booked this on a credit card months ago along with a late arrival. Fortunately there was a clean room.

The room seemed to have been recently painted. Bathroom was clean, with poor shower control and dripping tap. Towel rack nicely placed to bang your head. In the main room there were two wires sticking out of the ceiling. The air conditioning unit was louder than any we have ever come across. See photos.

Double bed OK, lousy pillows (take your own!). I slept well, my wife was disturbed by "noises" from our neighbours. TV unit was excellent.

Breakfast was sufficient (typical motel) but was told that there is nowhere to eat in the morning within a couple of miles.

Took bus into downtown and back which was fine (one short block from motel to bus stop) but the buses are not very frequent. On our last day the courtesy bus took us to the airport. This was the highpoint as the driver was efficient and highly entertaining.

Overall we wished we had spent a little more money and stayed somewhere else. Anchorage is a relatively expensive place to reach so saving $50 or so on a decent room doesn't make sense.

  • Liked — Tv & Trip to airport.
  • Disliked — Pillows on bed; air-conditioning unit; noise from other rooms.
  • Tips/Secrets: — Stay elsewhere.

I went to the Super 8 in Anchorage, AK after finding my original accommodations to be sub-standard - after 21 hours of real time either in a plane or in an airport from Central NY. I was tired and just needed to rest. The front desk manager, Jane, was one of the nicest people I ever met. She got me a nice room and went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable. The room itself was nothing extraordinary, but it was nice, clean and comfortable which is all I'm looking for in a room anyway. I was so pleased with Jane and the service of everyone at the Super 8 that I booked with them for an additional 3 nights once I was scheduled to return to Anchorage about 10 days later. The wireless internet access was nice to have too.

Again, Super 8 isn't all about atmosphere, but it was a nice, clean, comfortable and very accommodating place to say. Kudos to Jane and the rest of the staff there. These people made a bad situation great and I am forever grateful for that.

If you're a middle class American looking for a nice place at a reasonable rate in Anchorage, I highly recommend this place. I would not endorse someplace so I highly if I didn't truly find it to be a nice place. I hope you enjoy your stay there too!!!

  • Liked — The front desk manager was a wonderful person who helped me when I needed it.
  • Disliked — Wasn't the best part of town, but it was a safe place to stay.

We needed a place for one night prior to taking the railroad down to our cruise ship in Seward. Picked this becuse it was reasonable, and had a shuttle to both the airport and the train station. (The shuttle driver was great, by the way). As another reviewer said, in retrospect, I'd pay the extra money to stay somewhere else even though Anchorage hotels are ridiculously priced. The girl behind the desk was a ditz. (When I told the shuttle driver I couldn't get a straight answer out of her he said "this doesn't surprise me"). Our party took up four rooms. For reasons they could not explain, two of the room resrevations had been "cancelled" prior to our arrival. The girl, and then later the owner, said it was because the rooms weren't being held by a credit card (WRONG). They managed to squeeze us in, however. The place was dirty. When we came downstairs at 5 AM to catch the shuttle to the train station, a couple of drunk young ladies were just rolling in from a night on the town. Take my advice....stay somewhere else.
