I booked this hotel because of the affordable price. When I arrived around midnight (long flight) the front desk was full of friendly faces eager to answer any questions. We just wanted to have a good nights sleep in a quiet, dark room. When we arrived in our room we immediately opened the blinds. The view was incredable. Dozens of fishmen lining the river which was just a step away. We got a great nights sleep and woke up late. We didn't know if there would be any breakfast food left. To our surprise there was plenty and a nice man to help us make waffles our get us anything we needed. The hotel helped us with our unique schedule too. We stayed 2 night at the comfort inn and went north to Talkeetna via the Princess Tour Railcars. I highly recommend them. We stayed at the Mt. Mckinly Lodge for 2 nights and 3 days then headed back to the comfort inn for 3 more nights. I found 5 nights in Anchorage enough to tour the city and take a day trip to Seward. We rented a car, which was highly worth it. The highway to Seward was beautiful with many chances to see wildlife(mountain goat with babies, bald eagles, swans, etc)! When we arrived in Seward we had an idea of what we were going to do. It was a beautiful day so we went on a day cruise with a stop at Fox Island for dinner and lunch on the boat. It was well worth it. It was probably the most fun out of the whole trip. We saw everything imaginable. A humback whale came right up to the boat and explored it for 5 or so minutes. Almost everyone got wet from its spray. Killer whales swam under us and did flips right in front of us. Steller sea lions, harbor seals, puffins galore, black bear, sea otters, dolphins swam in our wake for a while. The staff said they had never seen so much wildlife in one trip. We were really lucky. The glaciers were an extra. It was amazing watching huge chunks come crashing down into the ocean. The sound was like thunder. I HIGHLY recommend Kenai Fjords Tours. The service was excellent!!!! Overall, our trip to Alaska was a big hit!!!!

Let me start out with the positive. The staff at the front desk were very nice. Now on to the rest of my stay. The room itself was okay, but the bathroom was a mess. Loose and missing tilework. The tub drained very slowly. The toilet didn't flush well at all. The shower curtain had holes in it. There was mold/mildew growing in one corner. We we're here for three days and for some reason on the last day of our stay the maid never even came into our room, as a result we ran out of toilet paper and had to contact the front desk to request some more. The location of this hotel is questionable, it is away from the rest of downtown Anchorage, down a hill, beneath a bridge, and in between two sets of railroad tracks. Strange, but I suppose the land was cheap there.

Stayed here while in town for a conference. Clean, quiet, inexpensive and WARM complimentry breakfast. Did not hear the rail at night, but we were there in the fall. Nice pleasant lobby and small pool as well. Our only problem was the heat was up so high we had to run the air conditioning to cool off the room. I would highly recommend!

All of the characteristics were great: room size, room/hotel cleanliness, service/help, pool, price, etc. It was within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go. The staff was so helpful. The breakfast was OK, a typical continental breakfast. The only issue we had was the location (actually it was the location of the train track, otherwise the location was OK) - it was right next to a train track. We must have heard the whistles every half hour or so at night. It wasn't so obvious during the day, but it was at night. It great except for that. I'd stay there again, I'd just remember my earplugs.

I can't understand why this hotel does not rate much higher. I am fairly critical, but was delighted with my choice of the Comfort Inn.
We had rented a car and traveled for two weeks, staying in Princess Copper River Resort and Talkeetna Alaska Lodge yet we found this motel to be perfect for our pre cruise stay.
Staff were friendly and efficient, buffet breakfast was very comprehensive, free shuttle to town and train station, which is only a couple of hundred yards away, free fishing equipment to fish for salmon only yards from the hotel, large nice rooms. For Anchorage prices it is one of the most reasonably priced options.
Would definitely recommend it.
